Slyde allow me to elaborate, the only problem with a PS2 HDD supportable model is the disc reading laser and tray malfunction. So while you state it could happen to a PS/PC/Xbox360, I am not going to defend the 360 but it doesn't have a disc tray that could get jammed like the PS2, so not comparable in that aspect.
Actually, lots of things could go wrong with a hard drive. Regardless of what kind of system it is on. Disc tray or not, hard drives are extremely fragile. This jammed issue you talk about is nothing compared to other things that can go wrong. So this had no point.

o the "logic" in buying a new gaming system in the total amount of 450.00 is much more intelligent than you give credit for considering it's an upgrade regardless of how you spin it. But to just go out and "buy a PS2" again unless it's the slim model, is just buying another horse waiting to die. This would be one thing about the PS2 if Sony said "In someof the HDD models there is a chance of the disc tray jamming" instead they said "The older, larger PS22 model has disc reading issues that cannot be repaired indefinately in a feasible manner, instead a new PS2 will be released, and it does not support the HDD unit".
So, you are going to spend $450 and just forget about all your old PS2 games and accessories so you can plan maybe 9-10 games, tops currently on a new system? That is not logical. Now, if you honestly believe there are not more than 1 manufacturer of those HDD's that go into PS2's, then I don't know what to say, but laugh.
Also, this problem you speak of, can be repaired and it doesn't require you to replace your PS2. So yeah.

And again on the whole "Slyde versus evil megacorp MS" angle, regardless of facts or not, it's just a videogame system, if the consumer chooses to let it program his/her toaster, thats their decision.
You are right, that is their decision. I can't tell people what to decide. I offered you guys education of Microsoft, and you guys still want a 360, really that is your own problem. Not mine. I wish you luck, because you will need it.

I know my investment in an XBOX360 along with others will simply be due to the following:
Unknown pricing about the PS3 (Rumors of 599.99+)
XBOX will have FFXI whereas unless on a discontinued version of the PS2 or PC is the only means of playing it. The ps3 will not *ever*.
Its an upgrade for someone who's also catering to a game they love, sure XBOX might end up lacking in numerous ways in the game dept versus Sony, but it's a better solution than "Go out and buy a PC" or "Continually investing funds into a PS2 repairkit" once that model acts up. (Final one was an opinion with a sliver of fact)

That is perfectly fine. Actually, I kind of hope more people will buy 360's, maybe it will open their eyes. Since many of you don't know the truth of this corporation that you give your hard earned dollars to. GG nonetheless.
