Where to download IE8 for Windows 7?Follow

#1 Apr 07 2010 at 2:36 PM Rating: Good
I mostly use Firefox, but I enjoy playing flash based games on Facebook, and I've noticed that I get a lot of lag and connection errors that my boyfriend with Vista and a slower computer does not. I'd like to try playing them on IE8 but when I first upgraded I uninstalled it because I didn't think I'd ever use it. Now I can't find where to download it for Windows 7. The official Microsoft site doesn't have Windows 7 as an option for OS, and the Cnet site just links back to Microsoft. I've tried googling it and I can't find it anywhere.

Anyone know where I might be able to find it?

Roll Firefox back to 3.5.8 if you have 3.6, and download the IE tab add-on. All the fun with zero the major exploits.

If you really want the original IE8, try the Add/Remove programs icon in Control Panel (I forget what it's called now) and select "Add Windows Components".

A third option if you have Win7 Pro or higher it to use the free Win XP virtual machine from Microsoft to run IE.

Yeah, I have version 3.6.3

How do I roll it back to an older version? Do I have to uninstall or is there some other way to do it?

Switch to Chrome.

You'll have to download it from Mozilla's site and uninstall 3.6.3. You'll be able to keep all your custom settings and bookmarks.

Not sure if you're still looking for IE8 but the Cnet page links you to MS for a reason. Once your on the microsoft website try poking around a little in downloads. One click from the home page brings you here which has a download for IE8. Also I would not recommend downloading any Windows components from anywhere other than the MS website, as much as Cnet is usually fine.
