POL install failure on PCFollow

I recently decided to start playing FFXI again on my pc. The problem comes in when I tried to install Playonline it told me another version of POL was installed and needed to be uninstalled before I could continue. Apparently I incorrectly uninstalled POL previously, is there anything I can do to rectify this problem short of reformatting my HD?
