A 6600 is actually going to be pretty aenemic for oblivion if you have the settings anywhere near high. You may want to ramp down your graphics settings significantly and see if that fixes the issue. Also check for fragmentation in the oblivion directory with disk defrag and defrag accordingly. You may also want to check and see if your sound card is sharing an IRQ qith your video card and change that out if it is. Oblivion is another one of those games that sometimes dislikes that configuration.

well the thing is, that oblivion scans your config and sets it to run at the proper settings. so it says that my system can handle it at medium settings. the thing is the game itself seems to run very smoothly when i move around in the beginning.

i will lower the settings though to give it a shot. i havent defragged yet, so ill try that too.
