FFXI 9001)(-1) ErrorFollow

#1 Jul 26 2006 at 9:03 AM Rating: Decent
After the new July 24th update I get this FFXI 9001)(-1) error when I try to start FFXI. The pol viewer runs ok and I have been running the game for 3 yrs with no problems. In the same message it says invalid install path. I haven't moved anything so I don't understand what could have happened. I did the check file option in the viewer and it shows no corrupt files. Anyone dealt with this kinda thing b4?

I got it straightened out if anyone ever has this happen to them hopefully this will work for you too. It was the compatability settings for pol viewer. It was set to win 98/me mode and I just had to un check the box and set it back to regular win xp mode. I just figured I'd let everyone know because I couldn't find much info on this error.

sigh~, still can't work. I right clicked the POL.exe (or its shortcut), I did uncheck the box. Still can't log in to it. Has anyone found new solution? Please kindly help. Thanks.

They suggested 2 things when I called. Try using the windows 2000 compatability mode. They also made me update my video drivers. I did the drivers first and it still didn't work so then I unchecked win 98 and that was when it worked. If it still won't work after all that go on the playonline site and do the live chat with tech support and they should be able to help. They will ask you for a lot of info though so it may take a little time.
