POL problem with new install.Follow

I recently bought a new computer and i've installed POL and all the expansions with it.
However, when i try to open POL after the installation to update and register all my expansions and POL itself, it crashes, causing my computer to completly freeze up.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a patch i can download to fix this?
I'm not too computer savvy. Are there any programs that conflict with PlayOnline causing it to crash or could i be running something in the background that's making it do this?
(usually running nothing but AIM, although i dont see how it affects it since i'm not even able to get on the game yet.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
