Ru'ann Gardens problem with graphicsFollow

I've read all the other graphics responses, and the problem I have isn't quite like any of the addressed issues.

My game works great on all the areas of the game, except Ru'ann Gardens.

If i walk in, I lock up and then have to Alt + Tab out.

When I log back in, I get a red dot of doom automatically.

I can take about 2 steps before I lock up.

It took me 14 tries to get out of Sky. It was really an unhappy time.

So now I'm a sad Taru Taru. I can't play in sky.

A few other people said they have had this problem before. Anyone know a cure?

I've taken my graphics to lowest possible setting. I've connected directly to my ISP instead of via my network. There really isn't anything left for me to try.

Anyone got any suggestions? It's really odd since its just this zone.

Oh yeah,a nd there were only 27 people in the zone, I was thinking it was a lag problem but its not.

I've seen 3 other threads with the same problem where disabling the sound fixes it. Too lazy to search for them right now however Smiley: grin

Hey wint have you by any chance got a character on Alexander server for FFXI i noticed a whole raft of purchases by someone called 'wint'. Or is it just your evil twin?

i'm no pro on swapping FFXI files, but i've heard of people swapping the sound file for sky for another one, like Zitah. that always seems to do the trick for others. there are plenty of guides out there on how to do that.

PS: Disable sound doesn't do anything for me...
I asked my bf to log on my account on his PC and he could get me out of sky. So the problem is my pc? or the files related to sky on my pc???

I have this problem, took me one try to fix it. Step by step guide:

-log out of FFXI completely, even POL.
-go to your POL directory in your program files.
-click on squareenix/final fantasy/sound2/win/music/data folder.
-right click and COPY the 210.dat to a folder you create in your own document. (just incase something goes wrong, and btw dont try playing this if you convert it to a .wav it locks up your whole computer, or try to play in POLUtils)
-DUPLICATE 207.dat (Ve'lugannon palace)
-DELETE the 210.dat from the data folder (not your my documents!)
-RENAME the 207 copy.dat to 210.dat
-Log into FFXI to enjoy the wonders of sky!

This error is caused by incompatibility between FFXI and your sound card. It has someting to do with realtek but it only affects the Sky music, weird huh? It has nothing to do with anything else, but the sky music.

I hope this helps!

Try turning off your antivirus program, especially if it is Zone Alarm AV or E-Trust. Had the same problem and found out Zone Alarm was the source of the problem.
