For a few weeks the dog and daughter both thought they were mountain goats, so I kind of understand what you're going through.

I'm not in the mood for D3 at the moment. I was in the mood for WoW, but didn't want to spend $15 for a 1 month subscription, hence the Rift thing.

Well, either way it got me an extra day off of work I guess. Everyone seems to be fine other than a couple of nasty bumps on the head, though you can never really tell with a 2 year old.
As long as it's making your ears bleed with it's shrieks it'll probably be fine.

We got a list of stuff to look out for. You want to make sure they're basically their normal selves. If they're extra groggy or grouchy, etc. stuff could be bad. But that stuff is usually pretty rare, but still taking a day off to make sure they're not worse off seemed like a worthwhile endeavor.

Besides, it was an extra day off. Smiley: grin

Peg+Cat.

Even then they're usually jumping around singing. Really the best thing is Chicken Nugget Happy Meal and the iPad.

On that note, there are a few schools teaching exclusively with iPads here now. They also have grades not based on age but on how good the kids are per subject which I think is an interesting concept. Of course if an older kid has to do math with all the younger kids he or she is an obvious target for bullying but then again the same goes if that kid was only getting F's and now they're at least learning at their own pace rather than scrambling to keep up.

There's so many good learning apps for those things. We're using one to teach the kids math, and it's been working surprisingly well, better than pencil and workbook at least. You read about how people are supposed to learn better from paper, etc. but it's interesting how well the iPad has caught on despite that. Pretty handy little doohickey.

It seems to work well enough, the article mentioned that there were 2 schools like this last school year, 9 now and 20+ next year.

So I went out for ramen with my sister and brother-in-law last night, which was a lot of fun. It was also solid stress relief for me, which was desperately needed.

Both for the fun parts, and because they had advice for me (professional, personal, and more specific, since my brother-in-law has an existing professional/personal relationship with my boss that's helpful).

My sister also knows my personality, so the chances of me seeing a doctor now are much better. Not because literally anything is different (I've always been aware I needed one), but because I'm an empathetic person by nature, and she pointed out me going see one for my anxiety disorder makes it more likely my mom would go see one for HERS, which is important to me. So.

Also, the ramen was really ******* good. It was just a hole-in-the-wall place I had only noticed in passing before. It's a nice discovery, because the ramen shops I knew about were only so-so.

Haha, no.

Normally mental healthcare is so stigmatized that people refuse to go on that basis alone (meaning, my mother).

I'm refusing to go for the same reason it's difficult to get me to see any doctor...

So I've been visiting a Dutch gaming site a bit over the past few weeks because they've got some interesting articles and lets play's and holy ******* **** is the community there awful. You know how people tend to act like moronic 13 year olds online? Turns out the same happens to kids who are already moronic 13 year olds and it turns them in frothing at the mouth idiots who make Varus look relatively sane and Gbaji look intelligent.

Internet is a scary place. Smiley: frown

If there's one refreshing thing about the remnants of the community still here it's that most of them have been around internet forums long enough not to get overly worked up over anything that's posted. I suppose we miss out on some of the antics other forums have, but I'm not sure that extra entertainment is worth it.

The worst part about gbaji is that he IS intelligent, he's just a freaking moron about it. He's not incapable of using his brain, he just refuses to.

It's not really all that hard to see. I mean, you have to ignore what he's actually saying, but just compare him to alma.

Gbaji lives in a fear bubble where he has erected a lot of firm walls that he can't comfortably challenge. If he actually BOTHERED to apply logic against them, they'd break down easily, which is why he steadfastly refuses to do it. It's why he so aggressively evades. If he was confident those walls would hold, he'd use them the way he uses all the rest of his arguments. But now they're too ingrained and central to his identity for him to do it, because he has an emotional stake in those walls continuing to hold.

Alma, on the other hand, is just a moron. He tries to use big words to hide it, and it just exposes it further.
