After several attempts to get a Sunken Temple run, I finally managed to pug a decent group. We get to just the first boss then the tank, a feral druid, has to go. Upon the tank leaving, our Arms warrior decides to bail as well. What was left was me, a holy paladin, an enhance shaman, and a beast master hunter (all of us were level 52). Now at this point in time I was pretty frustrated since I had been trying to complete the level 50 paladin quest, and this was the 5th group I had pug'd in attempt to complete it in just one day. The other party members, the hunter and shaman, were in the same situation. So, we said ***** it, and attempted to 3 man the rest of the instance. What happened next is pretty interesting.
When our original party was full, we cleared a few of the troll pulls and killed Jammal'an the Prophet. After we downed him, that's when the tank and warrior left, so, we had quite a chunk to do. The hunter we had was extremely good at his class, so he kited what he could and kept mobs trapped while his pet tanked the whole time. Our shaman had massive dps so he just unloaded on the pet's target. I of course sat back and healed them through it. All of the trash mob pulls were fairly simple, since the hunter kept what he could trapped and the shaman blew down mobs left and right. At 52 I have just over 200 bonus healing and 4k mana in my healing set, so I was able to keep up fairly well. We killed the dragons fairly simply and killed the giant bog elemental boss fairly easy as well. The Avatar of Hakkar fight was no walk in the park however.
So we summoned the first wave and killed them fast. The hunter kept yelling DRINK DRINK! I was like why? We cleared the first wave no problem, Ill drink in a few. I actually never did this boss before so I didnt realize that the mobs didnt stop coming until we put the blood on the fires in the corner of the room. Our tactic was pure AoE. The hunter kept his pig on the windserpent elites that dropped the blood while he and the shaman grouped all the snakes and lesser windserpents in the corner. I swiftly ran over, consecrated, then backed up. The sham dropped his fire nova and earth bind totems, while the hunter alternated between explosive and frost traps while multishotting and doing his AoE shot. I drew aggro several times since I was spamming heals left and right, but my bubbles and defiler trinket saved me from getting too overwhelmed. I got the headpiece from the big dragon boss so my mana/5 got a massive boost. Thats what allowed me to heal the whole ordeal. I mana potted one time and health potted one time on the encounter, but we completed, just the three of us.
It took us 3 and half hours, but we cleared 75% of ST with just us three, all level 52 (sham dinged 53 on elemental boss fight). Fun times.
