First of all I suggest going blood path once you are 20, as it is VERY useful! If you want to be defensively oriented focus more on sta and agi, but remember to not neglect your str and int, and if you want to be more offensive pump most into str,sta, and int, with a little agility. Heartsblood crafted armor is very good for tanks for 28+. Just build your character along what you enjoy the most, whether it be tanking or soloing. Oh and I suggest getting either werewolf, werebear, or werelion as the buffs they give are EXTREMELY useful!

Do any of the training point stats improve taunts affectiveness?

gator is good too, and str helps increase the argo of your taunt.

Yes str does mod taunts, but it is only for a small percentage.

for my troll sk (which is now 14) Im going blood, as do most sk's. Then Im going to raise my stats like this:

mostly sta, followed by str (but not far behind, because Im going to have this one be balanced) then about even agi and int.

Im doin this because Im goin dk, and dont really plan on MTing, cause my war will do that, but just in case, ill still be able to.

my toon will be very well-balanced, and I think overall this is a good way to raise an sk if you dont plan to MT for a guild that constantly raids.

just my 2 cents tho =)

Don't ignore int, all I have to say lol

But I've been wondering, does HoT on gear stack? say I have 10 HoT on my bp and 5 on my helm,will they stack?

Sounds about how my death knight grew up Imkillin... Was 460 str, 575 sta, and agi and int at bases ( nothing from gear and 180 and 160 respectively) until I started revamping him to turn him into a better MT. With those stats he was fine for lower end raid mobs, IoD, PoD, dreads, Mayong... but want to get him ready for bigger fish now. And it made him a beast in grps... =P

my Death Knight has selfbuffed:

stat: base (current)

str: 200 (300ish with gatorwere)
sta: 315 (575)
agi: 240 (300)
dex: base
wis: 55 (98 with leadership)
int: 150 (200)
cha: base

i tank fine on PoS, PoD, and LS. I feel any tank class can MT.

You are absolutely correct, if built right. Unfortunately too many kiddies like doing damage, and think that a tank is supposed to be able to do that. Therefore, they build them wrong then wonder why they suck at tanking. Smiley: disappointed

IT depends on what you are taking on, a DD/tank is quite effective on a regular grind situation. Now for deep reds or raids it is time to get a real tank.

While all Tanks can MT, Defenders are just much better IMO.

Yup DKs can tank some hard hitting red conned mobs; my DK tanked all the lvl60 epic LSM centipedes up to and including hard-meleeing Megametamilipilizon a few days ago in a four man group with no problems. True, he will never have the base resistances or AC that my defender has, or have the capability to easily max four resistances at once like my defender without severely hurting AC and HPs. DK at least do get a helpful AR/PR/DR buff from Undead Servant. My DK with all his blood path spells is my most fun grind and solo tank, he rocks with a traitorous breastplate.

i built my tank to grind/ solo to help me level and cm faster. i am now in the process of finishing my CM grinding and switching my SK over to a MT.

The reason why Defenders make better tanks than SK's and pally's is thatt hey can max resists easier. Not to mention their spells are WIS based which also gives them 1 point to every resistance with every 7 points put into WIS...

Here are my base (with form/selfbuffed):
STR = 165 (315)
STA = 245 (395)
AGI = 190
DEX = 70 (115)
INT = 215
WIS = 57

i still have 95 tp's left to displace.

after i rebuild my toon my stats are going to look like this
STR = 135 (320)
STA = 245 (430)
AGI = 200
DEX = 55 (100)
INT = 245
WIS = 55 - 105

+25 to all resists

i should still have 65-115 TP's to place after those stats. I would like to easilly max 2 resists at once.

cleetis if you plan on MTin id max your stamina without a buff also.
#21 Jun 14 2005 at 3:15 PM Rating: Decent
Try to get sta to 300 base and agi to about 250 base, dont bother with dex and id say lower your int to 200 Cleetis and we will pwn again!! And you should go DK so you can max AR, PR, DR easily... but Savage works too with the heals

i can max ar extremely easily... theres alot of gear out there that gives awsome stats and +30 AR...

i personally love INT on SK's... its like extra HP. And i do plan on trying to get my STA to around 300 base... i still have those 65-115 TP's to place :)!!!!!!

i am going to have around 80-100 base resists, so with buffs, i shouldnt have a problem maxing at least two.

plus Landar, youve seen me tank.. im pretty nicely set up right now.

im not going DK as of yet.. the only thing i like about DK is that you get an upgraded proc spell... i heard its REALLY nice...

i dont like pre-req's... and i dont like the 200 base STR requirement.

that 3500 insta heal just owns and has saved my **** many many many times
