Hi,

I have just spent 5 hours downloading the patch, to find that is doesn't work, and the error message says that I needto reinstall the game, which means I'll have to redownload (is that even a word) all of the patchs which for me is like 16 hours, and I can't get onto the repair thing because it says "Cannot connect to the server to download repair information. Please try again later." it has said that every hour for about the last 14 hours, so please what can I door what should I do.

Thanks

Wait till tommorow to try the repair, if it doesn't work then reinstall. Sorry but thats just the way it is. If you want to be able to dl the patches in about an hour sign up for premium on this site, they have all the patches available for download.

Unless you delete them yourself, the game keeps all the old patches still in the World of Warcraft directory; you can go in there and see them yourself (this is also why the folder becomes obscenely large after 2 years of patches).

You can set these folders aside if you have to reinstall to avoid having to redownload them all.

In addition to releasing version to version patches, Blizz makes patches to go from install straight to the latest version for the larger patches.

i.e. on the alla download list there are patches listed "WoW-1.11.2.5464-to-1.12.0.5595" and another just named "WoW-1.12.0"

If you do have to reinstall start with that one big patch and then do the one again from 1.12 to 2.0

Gormets,
I had the same problem as you.

Before re-installing the game, go to http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww01698p and download the repair utility.

This utility will scan your patch.mpq file and will detect any corruption or errors that need to be fixed. Once it is complete it will roll back you game client to an earlier version.

When mine finished it said that it found some severe errors and it reset my game client to the original version, so I still had to download a new patch but at least I didnt have to re-install.

If you have saved the patches in a separate folder, then you can apply them one by one. If not, you can download the Full 2.0 patch from the blizzard downloader or from other mirror sites. I use the premium area in this site for downloads however the full patch had to be downloaded via the Blizzard downloader or another site like File Planet.

Hope this helps

Edit: I just found this on the blizzard site.
Note: With the release of 1.8.0 the repair utility (repair.exe) can now be found in the main World of Warcraft game directory on your hard drive.

I downloaded the utility before running it. The version that I downloaded seems to be more current. It was version 1.5 whereas the one in the aforementioned directory was 1.4 I believe.

Edit2: I had posted about this before but I guess the title wouldnt have help. in any case I'm including a link to the post so you can verify if it is the same error I got.
