It has been suggested many times, in fact there is a thread on the official boards that is quite a few pages long now. Unfortunatly there are currently no plans to introduce player housing in WoW at the current time.

Now player houses would be an idea! I enjoyed having my own house in everquest II. It would be a good addition to the game imo.

I was just talking about this with a friend the other day. Basically a bank with more space. Could have extra stable slots for us hunters and give the same rested effect as inns. And just imagine the fun you could have if they could be entered by rogues!

I too would like player-owned-properties. Not just houses but guild halls would be alot of fun to have. as far as realestate is concerned there are really two methods of doing it. first, use a common doorway to the house/guild hall that all the players can use. this would require the house/guild hall to be an instance but it is a quick and simple way to give us something more to the game. Second, create a new zone, there is some empty space between Kallindor and the Eastern Kingdoms one more island wouldent clutter the map. This would allow players room to buy plots of land and build on them. I'd like this as the actual aqusition of the property(s) and the gathering of resources to build the complex would give us something to do when we are waiting for enough to run raids. In an item driven game i dont think giving us another way to "show off" success would hurt the gameplay.

Guild Wars handles the Guild Hall aspect rather well, and I wouldn't think it would take much to add these to WoW. The guild vs guild battles were a nifty feature, as was the status gained therein.

One game I played with player-owned houses was Anarchy Online. You picked a building door and it opened up an "instance" for you. Anyone could use the same door, but it led to their "own" house. You could change apartments if you moved to a new city, buy furniture, sculptures, etc. If the WOW home included extra storage, I'm all for it!

if houses were in the game I think using one door to get in to your own house would handle the problem of where to put the house, and guild halls would be cool too. The rested effect that inns give you would be implemented into houses too and same with guild halls. and extra bank storage would make the houses all the more useful.

That's simple - make them an instance. Either keyed to your account, or keyed to your guild. There are lots of empty spaces in SW and IF that they could do this - for example, there's a building you can go in right to the left of the Tram in the Dwarven District. It has (as far as I can remember) tables and benches. And there's nothing in there. A perfect spot to instance a guild hall. And there's tons of empty buildings in IF that have nothing but a bed and a few other things in them that could be player housing.

The space is there. It's the implementation that's the problem. Plus I suppose it would take up database space maintaining all that data. But hey, that's why Blizzard makes all that dough - to be able to work all this stuff out, right?

Oh yes having houses would be absolutely great. Back in the day when I played Ultima Online I had my own awesome little house. I had tailoring so I could make and dye my curtains and bed, and even had a little backyard where I tamed tons of sheep and stuck them there. =D haha
