Help with In-Game Scavenger HuntFollow

#1 Dec 04 2006 at 2:20 PM Rating: Decent
Ok folks, I need some help with a guild event I'd like to put together.

The event is going to be a scavenger hunt, and I need some ideas for items to send everyone looking for.

Here's the rules for what I need:

Has to be reasonable for a lvl 40 to get. (Lower is fine, in fact, I wouldn't mind a few newb area items)

Nothing worth more than say, 25 silver - I don't want people having to give away expensive stuff.

The more interesting the better!

If you're Horde, go for the Ripped Ogre Loincloth. http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=15794

Rare as hell drop, but if they know the right quest they can get them easy.

Pickpocketed items would be fun, like the Rogue's Diary.

The ogre loincloth is ONLY obtainable during the quest. The drop from mobs is a bug from when a party loots an ogre and a mount at the same time. You can see it on other items such as bloodpetal sprouts

Any epic world drop. I was level 40 when I got my first (In The Hinterlands).

Ask for something that can only be made by a crafts-person, like some low-level tailoring gear or engineering gizmo.

That's a good one. Maybe a low/mid-level item from each profession. One that requires a dropped recipe. Things that of themsleves aren't terribly valuable, but aren't necessarily readily available either.

Another good one for horde players is the Defias mask. It forces them to go into an instance that they normally might not bother with (maybe they are dropped outside the instance too, not sure, but either way they have to go to a non-typical area for horde players). Maybe other items that are instance specific like deviate scale.

Why make them look for only items? Get about five council members together, put them in different spots around the continents, and give the players clues on where to find the next guild member. Whoever solved the clues in the shortest amount of time would be the winner.

How about something like the recipes the wandering Goblin in Hillbrad sells - they'll have to find him between Tarren Mill and Southshore and be the first to grab the items off him while the others wait for them to reappear in the inventory? You can do that with lots, like the Enchanting Undead guy in the sourthen mountains of Silverpine. (Horde Only)

I would lean towards gray or white items that only drop in one area (zone) that are not likely to be found in an auction house.

One example would be the "broken electro-lantern" that drops from Venture Co mobs in Stranglethorn.

Another could be the "webbed pants" that are only dropped by Night Web Spiders in Tirisfal Glades.

There are also items that only drop in the 'protected' newbie zones that could be quite a challenge to get by someone of the opposing faction. The "webbed cloak" only drops from the Night Web Matriarch in the Forsaken starting zone. The "squealer's belt" only drops from Squealer Thornmantle in the Tauran starting zone.

If you want to risk having people find the objects in the AH then you could go for items that only drop from various rare mobs such as the green "webwing cloak" that drops fairly easily off of the Pridewing Patriarch in Stonetalon.

Or - another alternative could be instead of items, the hunt could be for various mobs that must be beaten and screenshotted - perhaps while wearing a distinctive tabord or item to ensure that the shot is current.
