How much gold should a 47 lev have?Follow

I'm level 38 now with over 100 gold and was up to 140 gold but I really needed that 25g bank slot. I have all of my skills up to my level including the ones I can't forsee myself using anytime soon. Most of my current gear I made myself though with all the metal I have gone through, it may have cost me more than if I'd just put the bars in the AH and bought gear. LoL

My boyfriend has a character that is nearing level 50 and still doesn't have a mount nor has ever had 20g at one time on any character. He doesn't buy AH gear and doesn't seem to spend much but he also doesn't spend time on gold making pursuits like fishing, mining or herb gathering. He likes just playing and getting experience. I do think he is slowly learning ways he can make more gold while still having fun and I think that fun is the main point of the game anyways.
