Do you hug your pet when no one is looking?Follow

#1 Nov 29 2006 at 5:30 PM Rating: Excellent
I sometimes find myself hugging, playing with, and talking to my pets (my turtle Speedy in particular) when no one is looking. I can understand doing that when there are people around, as it is kind of a cute display of affection for your little digital pet, but alone? That means that the only ones who know you are showing affection to your little buddy are you and the pet (and perhaps a confused and/or disgusted GM).

Does anyone else do this? Does anyone out there have a pet that they would say they "love"? I could see this if you have had a certain pet for a very long period of time, who has been with you through thick and thin, and kept you company on long nights of solo grinding.

I love my pets!!

Whoa, and I mean whoa...

Its just a game, step back a little. :)

We all love out pets, or we wouldnt have chosen a character that takes pets, but um... Im shocked a little.

You, my friend, need a real pet.

Get a cat. They're awesome.

It's not that she's a mental ****** that only has feelings for her pets. It's just I see how you could grow attached after a while.

Me and my pet Spanky the bear are *bearly* on speaking terms.
Turns out when I log off he goes chasing some tail, filthy *****!

Well, ok...

For the record, I do have real pets lol. I hate cats, but have 2 dogs.

I don't play a Hunter, so my pets are very static, and non-combat related. They are just lil cute companions that follow me around ^^

EDIT: And I dont actually talk to them when no one is around, but I will hug them when they are looking really cute :D

I thought this thread was about real pets at first glance. I don't think I have ever hugged a in game pet, no real plans on doing it either.

The only pet I do that with is my felhunter. He really needs a hug after getting so much abuse for his looks. He has no control over that - it's genetic. I occasionally slap my imp when he gets mouthy...

First of all, rate up for making it a cheerful morning! I /pat, /comfort & /praise my pet... it's part of my personal light RP experience in the game. Having said that, for some reason I'm in a mischievous mood and interpreted things a little... twistedly. Here are some examples of what I was thinking as I read this thread:

You animal.

Depends on how much you "love" them- but any port in a storm, eh sailor!? Smiley: laugh

Edit: One a side note, it's impossible to train a real life 10 year-old cat to be a combat pet. I've been trying to get mine to attack the neighbors for months now, and all she does is either demands more food or gets distracted by the smaller mobs, like birds or lizards. Smiley: grin

You're not the only one. I just didn't say anything.

I try, but I get a fireball to the face by my imp... I think he is tired of being the aggro target.

I feign death and let him die a lot. Its a tough love we share. Luckily I keep him well fed so he doesn't maul me (he's a bear).

I do from time to time interact with my non-combat pets. And as I’m doing so for my own pleasure, its just as likely to be when I’m out hunting alone as it is when I’m surrounded by people in a city. But I RP with my hunter pets a lot more.

My very first pet was bear. With a dwarf hunter it seemed the thing to do. I traveled to the human lands and tamed a brown bear outside of Goldshire and named him Patches. Through no fault of his own, I blame the folks at Blizzard who would never allow the poor beast to even close his mouth, I decided to choose a different companion. So I traveled back to Goldshire and took him deep into the woods. I fed him. I petted him. And I told him what a good bear he was. Then I let him go. He was level nine when I tamed him and about level sixteen when I released him back into the wild. I figured he was tough enough to survive almost anything he encountered.

To this day I still pet my hunter pets, cheer them when they level and do everything I can to keep them alive. I’ve even died a couple of times to save them. *smiles* Its only fair, as they have done the same for me. While I don’t have the same emotional attachment to my virtual pets as I’ve had for my real world pets, I do see them as more than just weapons or eye candy. Their companionship makes the game more fun to pay.

I do all kinds of silly things when nobody else is around. The other day I found myself on alone in guild chat, so I started lamenting this fact in /gu.

Loyalty Level 7 anyone? ;)

I named all my hunter's pets after my cat, but I definitely like the real thing better. Also if you want a virtual pet rather than a real one (they can get messy) Nintendogs is >>>>> WoW animals. Play it.

I /cheer and /cong when my pets level. I /praise them when they do something good, like killing that nasty gnome that wouldn't leave me alone, or being a 2nd tank in an instance. My pet wolf from Felwood, Stinky, is my bestest buddy. People always tell me to take him to the vet, but I like him just the way he is.

Stinky is going to be taking a break though, cause I just caught Uhk'loc and he's 7 levels behind me. I camped his area for 4 1/2 hours last night and when I was about to give up he appeared before me. It was destiny! ;)

My pet is a prarie chicken that I picked up in Westfall. I don't pet or hug my chicken. But, sometimes, I choke it.
