So Much Noobness.Follow

You know all the trial newbs that everyone hates? I'm the worst one. So hopefully someone will pity me. First of all I'm not even sure my yells work. I type /y blajashdsdh. but nothing ever shows up in the general chat screen. Also how do I talk in different channels? Lastly I'm a level 5 warrior with a two handed mace equipped. I found a better one handed dagger, but when I try to equip it says I'm not proficient enough to use this weapon. The dagger requires level 4. Any ideas?

We hate noobs, not newbs. Everybody is a newb when they start. :)

I don't know answer to your yell problem, it always worked for me and I have yet to hear about anybody having this problem. Hope somebody here can help you.

But then the dagger, you need training from one of the major cities from Weaponmaster. I forgot which Weaponmaster teaches which weapons, but you should go into city and ask the guards for Weaponmaster, and if that particular WP(Weaponmaster >.<) Won't teach you Daggers, then you can ask him what other WPs in your side teach and go see one of them.

Buying skill to use new weapon costs 10g for each weapon.

Hope this helped. ^_^

While I don't know why it wouldn't work, I can offer a solution, well a possible one. Right-click the tab that says General Chat (or whatever) and there should be some little menu saying like channels or something. Mouse over that (and other menus if i'm not right about it being channels) untill you see "Yell" and make sure it has a little check box by it. Maybe you are on a trial account though? I think, but am not sure, that one of the limitations to trial accounts is a shut-off of basically all forms of chat except the general channel for the zone.

10 SILVER, not gold... unless they raised it while I wasn't looking. Other then that, you're spot on the money.

Trial users cannot use /yell, /say, or the chat channels, unfortunately, but you can send tells and talk in party.

Also, welcome to WoW :)

I'm assuming its his trial account at this case, but I only found the quoted part last week myself. And I've been playing for good 4~ months.

Also, the 10g was typo, supposed to say 10s. I was thinking silver and wrote gold. ;_; Thanks for pointing it out Tomec.

Trial accounts are limited in several respects. No Yells or (as I recall from my trial) using the various Channels. You get to use /say and /tell, and that's it as far as chatting. Additionally, you cannot use the in-game Mail system or the Auction Houses and you cannot Trade with other players.

I'm pretty sure trial accounts can /say. But the /yell and /1+ don't work. Also, when you type /yell, it won't show up in General chat anyways, you needed to type /1 to get that to work, but you're on trial account so it won't.

The dagger thing...go to Stormwind and ask a guard where the weaponmaster is, the weaponmaster can teach you daggers in stormwind. Not sure if any of the other ones can teach it, i assume so. Oh and, look at some of the NPC merchants before you waste your money on a dagger, you're a warrior....daggers just ain't yer thing lol. and if you're going from 2h mace to 1 dagger, that's not a good idea. If you're not gonna use a shield, get like another 2h mace/2hSword/2hAxe. And then of course at lvl 20 you can dual wield.

This thread prompted me to revise the FAQ. Originally the following was included in "1. What do I need to do to give a friend a free trial version of WoW?", but after reading the responses here, I felt it deserves a question of its own.

Quote:
4. If I get a trial account, will I be able to do everything?

The following restrictions are placed on all trial accounts:

  • A level cap of 20.
  • A maximum of 10 gold.
  • Trade skills are capped at 100 ranks.
  • Inability to trade via the auction house, mailbox, or player-to-player.
  • In-game chat channels will be unavailable.
  • A limit on the number of tells that can be sent.
  • Realms with login queues will give priority to customers with retail accounts.

These restrictions are only in place during the trial period. Players who decide to upgrade their accounts will be able to continue adventuring with the same characters and take full advantage of all features included in the retail version of the game.
