in what is likely the single coolest idea ever presented for TBC (imo at least), someone has come up with a very detailed description of a jetpack that engineers could make and use. included are potential mats needed to make it, how it would work, and the (of course) hilarious deadly drawbacks of when it *doesnt* work.

i dont know about the rest of you, but seeing a gnome streak into the ground at high speed followed by a large detonation on impact would make my day in so many ways. alternatively, seeing my friend use the jetpack with seemingly no effect, then later learning that his boots are at 0% durability would also be quite funny.

I thought you were joking ..

However that really was a good idea/post. I do agree that the new engi stuff isn't as exciting as some of the original stuff they came up with - and anything to spice it up would make this engineer [read - engineering addict] very, very happy =)

That's an awesome post, loved the creativity. Thanks for sharing it since I'd have no idea about it due to being at the other side of the world(EU). Cheers Quor!

I think Engineering could indeed be expanded. I'd rather have the jetpack than a flying mount, just for the fun factor, personally. In addition, having got up to the Biplane Airfield in Dun Morogh the other day, and looked at the planes parked there, I'd REALLY like to have one of those to fly sometime :D (The shark motif on the nose of the planes looks very nice, too) It would even be nice if you could hire one of the planes to go to other places, in the manner of the Gryphons, Bats and whatnot.

That would be soooooo cool to have! Only if it were made as a weapon instead of a means of travel, have them always make you crash and have a big AoE explosion. I can see it now...AV the defense is turtling.....send in the Gnome Bombs lol

Hmmm. Jetpacks are neato idea, but how about bombs you can strap onto yourself(Chest armor maybe?) Which have 1 charge and work like Kamikaze.

It would go into chest slot, and when used it would kill you and give the -10% duration to your gear like as you had been killed by a mob. On the better side, it would do damage equal to your life to a 5 or 10 feet radius.

"Throw more Gnomes at it!"

Only for fun purposes. :p

I hate being PC, and try to avoid it as much as I can, but I have to point out that Blizz would never add in bombs that you strap to yourself as long as there are suicide bombers in the news.

Not that I would care if they added them, but it would be an awful business move that would surely get them lots of bad press.

Sadly, you are correct. But not that it wouldn't be fun. :P

But I'm really hope they would add the jetpacks. ^_^

Hehe, Hey, it's Ann. She's on my server, and a very good RPer as well as a good person. She comes up with some pretty neat ideas. And since my BC character will be a Draenei Priest (with pigtails) with engineering (my first go at it), I'd love having stuff like that. ^^

yes! the jetpack support grows!!!

as an aside on the topic of suicide bombing, such an item actually already exists. its a goblin engineering item called the sapper charge, and it deals damage to the person that uses it as well as those around them.

it isnt a "suicide" bomb unless you use it at low life, and the people you hit with it take much more damage than you, but it still involves blowing yourself up in order to blow other people up. no blizzard game would be complete without the ability to detonate yourself in the name of killing your enemies. its what the goblin labs and gnomish workshops of WC2 were all about!

Can't Paladins bubble before using to avoid all damage? I remember reading that they could.
