Anyone know of a way to: When the gold dot appears on the mini-map from mining or herbalism, I want it to ding at me, make some sort of noise, don't really care what. Anyone know of an addon that does this? Or know the code well enough to help me make it myself? (Link to relevant coding is fine here)

I don't believe there is an API call for a new minimap icon, unfortunately.

I assume by program running in the background, we are talking about something Blizz would ban for?
