Guild Jinx; a LamentFollow

I started this game in a very small guild. We had just enough people to form a five man group, with a pally as our healer. We had fun doing instances as we leveled. But just when we all reached level 60 most of the guild quit to play a different game. So I started soloing full time.

A few months back a friend at work joined what was described as a laid back guild that enjoyed doing five man instances. I grouped with one of the players who was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the different instances. So I joined up. Within a month over 90% of the members left the game to play EQ2. That left me in two guilds with less than five members each.

Recently I was approached in game by someone starting a new guild. I figured what the heck and joined with an alt. About a week later the guild fell apart.

That brings us up to the present. Having taken nine characters to 60, and a couple of others closing in on the level cap as well, I’d begun to wonder what to do next. I once again considered raiding. Four former members of my first guild were in a raiding guild. Unfortunately, this was the kind of guild that forced you to raid even if your mother was gasping her last breath on her death bed. I had no interest in it whatsoever. But two of these friends came to town last Friday and while we ate lunch they told me about a new guild they had found.

This too was a raiding guild. However, it was a no pressure guild. If you wanted to raid then sign up and go for it. If not don’t sign up. It was a simple as that. So I looked up their web page and I liked what I saw. Sunday I decided to ask for an invite. That’s when I found out the guild had just split up.

So I’ve come to the conclusion that my characters are guild jinxes. They join a guild and it self destructs. In fact, they have become so powerful that they don’t even have to join a guild. All I have to do is consider joining a guild with one of my characters and it will fall apart just from the anticipation.

*sigh*

I’m hoping this story will end on a happy note. Most of the members of this last guild formed a new guild. One of my characters is now a member of that guild. With luck I’ll be able to experience some end game content for the first time. With a lot of luck I won’t destroy the guild in the process.

You should come to Anetheron and join TFS. We'll be your anti-jinx Smiley: grin.

Wow...
And I just bumped TFS's recruitment threads on the o-boards, Vataro.
*sniff*
It'll be sad to see it dissolve. (heh)

Calabar, stay Alliance and far far away from my guild. Smiley: wink

(But seriously...good luck to you.)

I kind of feel your pain. Some of my closer ingame friends know me as the kiss of death for many guilds. I'm actually now in a guild that's nearing the longest surviving streak of any of my previous guilds. I joined a guild while leveling my hunter.

When I left it died because several people followed me to a raid guild. It was originally going to be a merger and that would have worked real well. But at the last minute my previous GL backed out and the rest is history.

The next guild lasted till the GL was tired of being ineffectual and tried to give me the guild. I refused to run someone else's and started a new one with the intent of people joining it. Too many people were bitter than I didn't want to retain the old name (which was ripped off of one of the more famous guilds of the early WoW days). This resulted in a big split forming, and I had not the patience to start a raid guild essentially from scratch. So I told everyone to rejoin the guy who had taken the old name and ran my former guild for a few weeks.

Then I joined the top Horde guild on my server. They had the server first C'Thun kill among other accomplishments. Then the server transfers were announced. Two days later the guild died. A mere 3 weeks after I had joined.

I stayed guildless for several weeks after that. An old guildie invited me on a run to lend some knowledge to their guild that was in the early MC learning stage. I tagged with them in September. Since then they have downed Ony and put MC on just about farm status. So.. I'm knocking on wood hoping this one won't die whether I stay or go!

Calabar, if you're on the Stormrage server u can join my guild....although i gotta warn you we're quitting WoW when Vanguard: Saga of Heroes comes out =). You should make a guild called "Jinxed" and put all your characters into it lol. Only take like one out of it at a time to join a new guild, and if that guild falls apart, put the character back into "Jinxed" lol.

I've had about the same luck with guilds. (partly why I don't play Anetheron any more I don't want them to blame Anel for their troubles).

Me and you should start a guild. Maybe our vibes will cross and all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.

Excuses, excuses. Both of you need to play with us. At 9 months we've out lived 80% of the guilds on our server and every Alla guild to date. I'd say at the expansion we're officially at guild tenure for WoW.
