low lvl instance questions.Follow

#1 Nov 27 2006 at 6:31 AM Rating: Decent
I am a 35 warrior running SM for the Scarlet set of armor.
Some of the pieces Eg, (legs and Chest) go for about 60g+ on the ah and the other stuff seems decent to pick up.

my question is once i hit 40 i will make the turn over from mail to plate, so is it worth my time trying to run over and over this set of armor which i will more than likeley change when i hit low to mid 40's?

Thankyou

If you are still getting good XP by running SM, then yes it is worth it. The full set gives a really nice stamina bonus. If you can go somewhere else and get XP faster, then don't waste your time in SM. Just do whatever can get you XP the fastest basically. Just my opinion of course.

It is situational.

We ran SM for several reasons, over and over, until just recently when our group started to hit the 40s. (It is an alt group that we created solely to play together certain nights of the week)

We have a paladin and a warrior in group and they both were able to pick up several pieces for use. As neither of them has unlimited funds to just go buy all the armor they want off the AH, it was viable for them to collect the SM armor. They won't be immediately replacing them with plate and until then they will have some nice mail to fill the spots.

We had a lot of fun running our group through SM, and the loot was an obvious plus. I'm not sure if it would be good for you to "go out of your way" to do the instance over and over just to get the full set, but if you enjoy doing the instance then why not? At least then you would not be frustrating yourself getting replacements, even when you switch to plate.

At least post-40 your quests will start to offer plate rewards.

The answer to your question depends on you. If you enjoy running SM more than other content at that level, then by all means grind to get your armor. My guild group made several runs, but mostly to get gear for our casters.

However, if you would rather be doing other things, don't worry about armor that will likely be replaced in a few levels. The shield is great and drops frequently, but the plate change will provide you with better choices for the rest of the set. Both Ornate Mithril and Heavy Mithril crafted plate sets offer better armor, though the stats are geared to either tanking (Heavy) or damage output (Ornate) instead of both like the Scarlet armor.
