I just got hacked. I called a GM about it. Has anyone else ever had this happen? I don't use anything outside of what Blizzard has given me. If this has happened to you, what happen? Curious and worried atm, need some support.

It's possible you picked up a keylogger or Trojan somewhere. I recently got an in-game email from Blizzard warning that there's a keylogger making the rounds. They're usually found as links to unknown websites posted on boards, much like this very one (I know there's been a few pop up here in the past, I'm just glad we have some attentive admins!).

I'd advise you to run spyware and virus checks immediately. Best of luck in retrieving your hacked account, and my heart goes out to you. :(

This has happened to a few people who post here, although I can't recall who. Smiley: blush

I was hacked twice last month.

I changed my password before I had found and killed the keylogger. Good job, Maz.

Anyways, they didn't manage to steal anything. In fact, they took my Druid for a spin and he had about 50g of vendor trash in his inventory when I logged on him.

Plus they took my Paladin up two levels. Smiley: dubious

I don't get those people.

No one holds a grudge like a GM.

I didn't know she was married, honestly.

This has happened to several people on this forum. You can search the forums and find many threads on it. Shmii was one of those back in September. Here's the suggestions and comments of that thread:

You really need to be absolutely sure you get any keylogger off your system. Suggestions are going to run from scanning, to looking up and verifying every system process, to reformatting the box. How you do it is going to be influenced by your experience and ability in dealing with pc problems. Blizz can get your account issues straitened out with time, but you need that pc clean.

I had my account hacked this Saturday night.

My password was changed, and some fUcking dumb *** motherfUcker logged into Tchi, my priest, and disenchanted ALL my items. Sold all my Mooncloths (15), Flasks of Supreme Power (5), Major Mana Pots (20), Mageblood Potions (10), and Elixirs of Shadow Power (10), as well as a few stacks of Runecloth. They also sold all my bags. I was left with my Backpack, and those ZG epics you cant d/e.

I ran some software to check for viruses, but they didn't find anything specific. Blizz are looking into it now, so my account is closed.

I was gutted, but most people say you get the items back.

Even then, I won't get any of the pots/cloths back, and there must have been close to 700G worth. Not to mention the enchants on my gear.

So yes, i'm gutted.

If I don't get my items back, i think I'm quitting this game for good.

Been there, done that :(

Basically follow all the steps blizzard gives you and you should be 98% recovered. The one thing they won't be able to do (unless things have changed) is restore enchants.
