To all who took a moment to help, my thanks. Good hunting to everyone.

In one of those required moments of irony, the original problem I posted (long since buried with a negative rating) was resolved by application of Thudd's Law -- I whacked buttons randomly for long enough to get a result. It took me two months of sporadic attempts, but I finally got the right combination.
