I have almost finished putting maps in place for each of the outdoor zones in the game. Just the northern tip of the Eastern Kingdoms (Silverpine, Tirisfal, WPL, EPL, Hinterlands) remains to be done. However, the main purpose in generating those maps was to show people where the points of interest are. In going through the zones, I've found quite a few POI's we didn't already have listed on the site...and there were a few that I never found and may have to go back for.

So what I want to know is if anyone can tell me where these things are, or else I'm going to delete them. Actually, I'll do a net search and then delete, but there's enough I figure it's easier just to ask for a little aid first. Some of these are easy to check on, but I've got other things to do tonight, so I'll take the lazy way out. 8)

Besides, it indicates to you a little of what's going on behind the scenes, and in the meanwhile, I can nudge you all to take a look at the maps again and make any comments or corrections on them. I might go back and touch them all up to add zone exits anyway.

That said, here's the list. If you have seen any of these places yourself in the last three months or so and know specifically where it is, either reply here or send me a PM. No coordinates, please.

Arathi - Blackwater Shipwreck (in Drowned Reef, I guess?)
Arathi - O'Breen's Camp
Loch Modan - Algaz Gate (there's Algaz Station, there's Dun Algaz, is there Algaz Gate?)
Loch Modan - Trogg Caverns (thought there was a POI down there, but it was all Splinterspear Valley for me)
Searing Gorge - Southgate
Elwynn - Northshire River (yes, NSV has a river, but not a POI that I could tell)
Elwynn - Thieves Camp
Elwynn - Thunder Falls (think I know where to look for this one)
Duskwood - The Cemetary (not to be confused with Raven Hill Cemetary)
Duskwood - The Whipple Estate
Duskwood - The World Tree
STV - Blackwater Cove (where Pretty Boy is? I didn't get a name.)
STV - Shell Beach
Ashenvale - Demon Fall Ridge (was all Demon Fall Canyon)
Ashenvale - Solace Glade
Felwood - Barrow Dens
Felwood - Shrine of the Deceiver (somewhere deep in Jaedenar?)
Azshara - Forlorn Ridge (the BG hill thing is The Forgotten Ridge)
Azshara - Vanndir Encampment (think I know)
Mulgore - Brave Wind Mesa (TB area?)
Mulgore - Fire Stone Mesa ("" "")
Mulgore - Mantle Rock
Mulgore - Skyline Ridge
Dustwallow - Foothold Citadel (is this just Jaina's house?)
Dustwallow - Ironclad Prison (old Alcaz Island?)
Dustwallow - Moggle Point
Dustwallow - West Point Tower (this seems too obvious to have merely missed)
Stonetalon - Valley of the Bloodfuries
Feralas - East Pillar, West Pillar
Feralas - Idlewind Lake
Feralas - Mok'Gordrun
Needles - Galak Hold (could swear I've seen this)
Tanaris - Gunstan's Post
Tanaris - Zalashji's Den
Silithus - Southwind (not Southwind Village, separate listing)

Right north of the Horde city(forgot name ;_;) in 1k Needles, is the camp of Centaurs. Its inside the mountain, more or less from the camp, straight north from the Horde city.

95% sure.

Badly explained, I know, but I hope it helps.

EDIT: Also.

If you mean the place with Pretty Boy Duncan, its just on the beach, when you exit BB to the jungle and take a left. 2 Min walk from the town. Otherwise, no idea.

Elwynn - Thunder Falls (think I know where to look for this one)

These are the falls that pour into mirror lake.
---------
Loch Modan - Trogg Caverns (thought there was a POI down there, but it was all Splinterspear Valley for me)

These are the probably the caves southmost in the stonesplinter valley. There is a quest target named mob in those caverns, probably why it is a POI.

Yeah, I know where that place is. What I meant in my comment was that I didn't get anything of the sort for that location when I actually went there. (Trust me, I know where Pretty Boy Duncan is. =)

Yeah, and I'm probably going to have to have another look-see, but my initial explorations (which were not terribly thorough that day) did not find "Trogg Caves" anywhere down there.

And also, how do you get up above the falls? I assumed there was a path there that I went looking for, but I must have just never found it.

The falls are now inaccessible without cliff hopping. I think you also need blink and a slow fall potion.

Edit: But I may be thinking about something else. I'm a noggaholic, but haven't been doing much lately. My favorite is getting from Azshara to the top of Org. Fun to get on top as a hunter and just shoot things below me, although you can get reported for it. Smiley: glare

Arathi - Blackwater Shipwreck (in Drowned Reef, I guess?)

There is a tunnel kind of back behind Stromgard - you just go through it and go down the path. There is a cove with a pirate ships and friendly pirates who need help. Wait that's o'b's - the sunken ships are in the naga infested waters just off this pirate camp.

Arathi - O'Breen's Camp

Okay, o'breen is the lead pirate. His damaged ship is w/ him - there are other sunken ships not far out in the water.

Loch Modan - Algaz Gate (there's Algaz Station, there's Dun Algaz, is there Algaz Gate?)

I *think* this is just where you go when you go north and leave the zone to wetlands. Not 100% sure.

Loch Modan - Trogg Caverns (thought there was a POI down there, but it was all Splinterspear Valley for me)

Well, you go south or southeast from thelsamar, and there is a Spli Valley fuuuuulll o' trogs - and the cave where the last part of the big "kill the troggs for the dwarves" quest is in the southern part.

There is a cemetary south to southwest of Darkshire, w/ some lower lvl skels and BLind Mary and Insane Ghoul, important quest characters.

Duskwood - The Whipple Estate

Never heard of it.

Duskwood - The World Tree

There is a place dead center in duskwood where you wind up a path and there is some sort of weirth "gate" or something - inactive atm. Is this it? You go north from the road, not far from where the road from stv comes up and hits the main e-w road.

STV - Blackwater Cove (where Pretty Boy is? I didn't get a name.)

If it isn't the Pretty Boy place, it is one of two other places. One possibility, you exit north out of BB, go east to shore, go south along shore - there are tents there w/ bad pirates. The other possibility is to go north from the pretty boy dunc place, travel past the nagas, swim north across the river - and find the pirates there - w/ their tents.

STV - Shell Beach
Ashenvale - Demon Fall Ridge (was all Demon Fall Canyon)

try looking in the NE part

Ashenvale - Solace Glade
Felwood - Barrow Dens
Felwood - Shrine of the Deceiver (somewhere deep in Jaedenar?)
Azshara - Forlorn Ridge (the BG hill thing is The Forgotten Ridge)
Azshara - Vanndir Encampment (think I know)
Mulgore - Brave Wind Mesa (TB area?)
Mulgore - Fire Stone Mesa ("" "")
Mulgore - Mantle Rock
Mulgore - Skyline Ridge
Dustwallow - Foothold Citadel (is this just Jaina's house?)
Dustwallow - Ironclad Prison (old Alcaz Island?)
Dustwallow - Moggle Point
Dustwallow - West Point Tower (this seems too obvious to have merely missed)
Stonetalon - Valley of the Bloodfuries

The Charred Vale is where the bloodfuries are that I've seen. I've never seen a Valley of the BF there that I recall.

Feralas - East Pillar, West Pillar

These are in the NW part of the zone - due s of where you enter from desolace. From feathermoon, get on the main n-s road and go n. You will see the "pillars" before long.

Feralas - Idlewind Lake
Feralas - Mok'Gordrun
Needles - Galak Hold (could swear I've seen this)

one of the centaur camps? One is to the left after you come down the big lift.

Tanaris - Gunstan's Post

Might be in the pirate area to the SE - look for opening in the rock (tunnel) to get to the major pirate area.

Tanaris - Zalashji's Den

Sounds like a Troll name - I'd look in the NW

Silithus - Southwind (not Southwind Village, separate listing)

Zalashji's Den is just south of Steamweedle Port, east of Gadgetzan on the coast. Follow the coast south and you will find it, there is a NPC Naga named Kalashji there. Can't talk to him, he's useless right now.

I believe Azuarc is wanting "Points of Interest"s (POI) that will actually show up on the map if you mouse hover over them...

Some POIs will net you EXP when you discover them, and some will just say "You discovered <insert place here>." I also think you'll see the location name show up on your screen in yellow letters when you walk through it.

Just because we all know where a certain mob/item/whatever is... doesnt mean that that location will show up as the POI he is looking for.

I am not saying any of you are wrong, I am just clarifying what "POI"s are.

PentUp, I'm not concerned with if it shows up on the area map you get from pressing M. I want all the places you get a notice in the middle of your screen for entering, and get mentioned on the header for the minimap while you're there.

And while I appreciate the insight, EvilGnomes, I have a good feel for where most of this stuff *should* be...I'm wondering if it is in fact a point of interest. For example, I've been in the area where the pirates in Arathi are, and I neither saw a "Blackwater Shipwrecks" nor an "O'Breen's Camp", although I most certainly found Faldir's Cove. Did I simply miss them? Also, a few of the places you suggested I know to have other names -- "The Cemetary" that you refered to is Tranquil Gardens Cemetary, "The World Tree" is The Twilight Grove, the "East Pillar" and "West Pillar" just come up as an extension of the Twin Colossals AFAIK.

I'm certainly not belittling your comments; I value any and all feedback I get. The concern I have here is that Blizzard may have changed stuff through the months. The points of interest on the site are largely here from shortly after retail. If anything was tinkered with in the last year and a half, it's going to be inaccurate, and that's why I'm trying to ween out the obsolete data. A lot of these names I actually remember having been to during beta or shortly after in retail. But I have no idea if they're still there or not.

And while we're talking about feedback, please tell me if there's anything that should be done differently and/or fixed with the maps I've actually made. (Pick the zone from this list to see where these maps are.) The current maps might not be terribly important any more -- but you can't tell me there wasn't a time when you couldn't figure out just where Xavian was. I'll be making maps of the Outlands zones when I'm able to, and I'm betting those will be important, so getting the style down now is important. Plus, I know of a couple errors on the maps I need to fix, and I'm betting there are others.

To everyone who has replied in this thread, thank you. As I said, I'll get on them as soon as I finished the last 5 zones. Guess I'm off to Silverpine now!

I know for certain where the Elwynn river is.

Off to the west of Stormwind there is a kind of hidden path up to a long river that has a split. Along the river are a bunch of defias around level 6-9 I think. There is a house with a dock also. If you continue along the river there is a split to the right that leads to a waterfall with 2 rocks under it. This also might be Elwynn waterfall but Im not sure. I can't exactly remember what is along the main river if you continue but I think it continues around to the mountains.

I hope this helps :)

It's kinda 'inside' Alcaz, as when you get to around the middle, you can go down some steps into a flooded prison. There's some random elites, a naff named mob and a portcullis or two to play with.

Not really worth playing around there - but it's near Docter Weezil's Flying Machine (Sp?)

Loch Modan - Algaz Gate (there's Algaz Station, there's Dun Algaz, is there Algaz Gate?)

Know where the baby red dragons are in Loch Modan? There's a ruined road that leads through the middle of them. If you stay on that road, you'll come to Algaz Gate. I don't remember how far you have to go. I think you'll find the gate before you hit the elite dragonkin... but I'm not sure. Anyway, the gate is somewhere on that road.

I thought blackwater cove was the inlet running up to the huge gates that are supposed to be part of Deadmines in the north of STV. I'll have to check it out tomorrow to be sure.

edit: checked it, its not, sorry.

For the Forlorn Ridge in Azshara, just hug the mountains northeast of the Alliance Flight Path - you may have seen a Horde Watch Tower there along the road - that's it. There's a way up to it along the west side of the mountain there, and it is just north of the Alliance FP - though I believe there is a pass between the mountain ranges before the Ridge. Here's a map - http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/worldmap/Aszhara.jpg

The way up is actually just around the "ment" writing part of the Haldarr Encampment. Or thereabouts. Possibly a little more NE - it's a switchback path up.
