When the raid leader is like "Can you gimme a number crunch real quick?" and that dude comes up with like "32.33 (repeating of course) percent chance of survival"...

A) what the hell does he calculate?? In order to come up with something like that you'd need to calculate the armor, HP, resistances, Agility etc. of the enemy, and the crit chances, attack power, defense and ALL attributes of the raid... which I assume was a 40-man... so just how the hell did that dweebo come up with a number?

B)Do people actually do that??

A) The video was made as a joke - it's not real. The guy doesn't calculate anything :) UBRS is a 10 man, although I think it used to be more (15?)

B) If you mean actually do complex calculations factoring in all those things you mentioned, then no, I wouldn't have thought so...

Besides, you couldn't calculate chance of survival. There are so many things that you would have to take into account. If your healer was not paying attention for one. Or if a tank was doing a lowsy job.

You can't JUST put numbers into an equation to calculate a "chance of survival." So yes, it was a joke.

I think that was determined staged a long time ago. That's not really the kind of place you have to plan ahead for.

Yeah, it's UBRS. If you look at some of the gear they're wearing (from the top of my head, the Warriors and Paladins have Valor on. This is Tier 0. Good luck in Blackwing Lair if your tank is geared out in T0.) If I recall correctly, this was made before the release of Blackwing Lair, back when "Pals For Life" (the guild this video was created to recruit for) was recruiting for UBRS runs.

*Note - Blackwing Lair and BRS look similar, however. This is because the actual instance portal (not the orb shortcut) is located in Upper Blackrock Spire, right before the Beast fight.

That video was a whole setup. It wasnt real. The words out. But im sure that someone made a mod that factors in all of your enemies and everything to get a survival rating.

Could take the percent of times each character has succeeded at it and average them together.

Chance of survival cannot factor all of the things you have stated Zebrandia and LordOfTaurus, the equation would most likely be too long to solve (like pi), usually chances of survival are based on success right in that particular situation and instance.

This movie is all but a joke. I remember i watched it when i was new in WoW. And i laughed so HARD!! but after 8 months of playing wow, i watched it again... and i was like: This is so stupid, because their saying, are we gonna bypass this boss or does anyone need Devout Shoulders, and someone answers, "bla bla" needs it, (hes a paladin, he needs it for healing) what the..? ok thats just wrong... but leeroy jenkins will always be in my heart since it was one of the first WoW movies i watched.

Actually, you can calculate success rate. It is IMPOSSIBLE to include Human error into the equation, so you just assume people will do their job.

You take the crit chance, dps, armor, dodge rate, etc. of all enemies and the same of all raiders. Then, you scale it to fit the average success rate for the raid.

There you have yourself an ESTIMATED value. All statistics vary with real-life data. The point is to take what you have and use it as a reference for that area.
