Well, I must be one of the unlucky. Killed 3000+ in badlands, and not a single Whelpling dropped :´|. Sooo want's a whelpling. Sells for around 80 - 120g on emeriss

You realize, don’t you, that according to the above your future is very bleak. One morning you’re going to step out your front door and an ocean liner will drop onto your head, followed by a satellite and whatever comet is passing closest to the earth.

True true

You do realize that in that same time you most likely could have farmed more than enough money to buy a whelp off the auction house? I’ve had people point that out to me many times. But for me it’s just not the same. A pet is a lot more precious to me if I went out and captured it myself.

Best of luck with your whelp. Perhaps we’ll both get lucky soon.

After reading some of your posts, I realize how lucky I was to find a crimson whelpling so easily. I'm tempted to go for the other 2 (green and black), but I'm afraid it will turn into one of the horror stories posted here Smiley: grin.

BTW, what would your favorite one be? Definitely red for me, then black. Green is cool, only because it's called 'emerald'.

So out of all the colored whelplings...

which one is the easiest to find? And where do i go to farm it?

I want one so bad, they are the coolest pets.

Thanks in advance!

Easy is relative. The drop rate for all of them seems so ridiculous that it's pretty much pure luck if you get any of them.

I did get a Dark Whelpling, but it was by accident. I farmed each type for a while with Harvey, never with any luck. I gave up. I tried again more recently with another character and gave up again. Then by chance I was doing a quest in Badlands and guess what pops up in the loot box?

<--- You can look up the drop areas / mob on Alla's by searching for the mob.

I could have bough an entire army of whelps :D - but as you say, it's not the same as finding it yourself :D.

Best of luck to all!

(The alternative is to get engineering, and make a Mithril Mechanical Dragonling)

Considering the drop rate for these (.01, or 1 in 10,000 kills) you guys are probably the only ones to get them, and everyone else killed thousands of whelps and got nothing. They're just all too depressed to post and tell us :-).

Congratulations on that little guy - this brought me back.

I got mine ages ago on my Orc Hunter when I was around your level, and it only took me about 3 hours of farming. He's stuck with me through everything, from reaching 60, getting exalted with Thunder Bluff, mining countless veins in Burning Steppes for my epic kodo and finally getting my Beaststalker Cap after a torturous series of Scholomance runs which I left empty handed.

Many have tried to replace him, but none have suceeded - the Siamese cat, a Tree Frog, a Smolderweb Hatchling, a Worg Pup and even the fabled Mr. Wiggles have failed to earn a regular place by my side.

May your whelpling bring you years of joy - I know mine has.

I like both the red and the green a lot. But if I had to pick just one it would be the green, followed closely by the red. For some reason the black one is not all that attractive to me. Maybe because it’s not really black. *shrugs* Still, it is a dragon whelp and that makes is special.

Though I don’t think the drop rate is any different for any of the whelps, I’d say the red is the easiest to farm, followed by the black. The red is easier simply because it’s the lowest level. The higher your level the faster you can kill them. So at level 50 its much easier to kill level 25 red whelps than 45 black whelps.

The hardest are the green whelps. While there are lots of red and black whelps to kill, there is only a hand full of green whelps spawned at any one time. Its easy to kill them all off and then have to wait for more to spawn. And if there are two or more of you farming them, be prepared for a long wait between spawns.

Yes, you can get both leather and scales by skinning whelps. Though only one at a time.

The problem there being that you can only have it out for about 90 seconds each hour. I wish Blizzard had done combat pets differently. It would be nice if we could have them at our side at all times even if we can only use them for combat as we do now. That’s why I was so very happy that the mechanical yeti Blizzard introduced was a non-combat pet. I like having it out for long periods of time.

how come there is an identical thread on the 0-boards, but has a link in it that everyone is saying is a keylogger?

did you post that? or was your account hacked?

or is someone stealing posts from here to include keyloggers... and can't think of anything to say themselves.....
