Well this makes me glad I still have the free respec option at the top. I'll have to browse around for some updated SF AA trees and see what I can find. Kinda makes me wish EQ2 had something like the WoW armory so we could see talent/AA builds online, would make it easier :P but oh well, I'll find one.

Anyway, one more question. I've been sitting at level 20 right now, my AA slider has been at 0% so the only AA points I've been getting are from AA quests. Should I change my slider? I notice a lot of people say 50% is the way to go to not gimp yourself at higher levels.

I put it at 50% myself with an alt, I hit 97 AA's at lvl 65. You can get up to a 100 AA's up to lvl 70, it's only after lvl 70 that you can get all the other ones. I would suggest trying to get as many of those 100 as you can though, it saves you a bit of the bother having to grind hard to get more AA's.

Others have stated it, the AA trees used to start with a basic stat, that has been removed but Sony did include the two main stats needed by your class to the very first ability which used to a be simple one point ability but can now take ten points.

edited to add: I heard online that it might be possible to have over 100 AA's before hitting lvl 70, I have no idea if it's true or not though.

You can get beyond 100 AAs before 70--but you can only spend 100 in the first two tabs (subclass and class, 50 in each) before 70.

Personally I bounce between either 0% or 100% on the AA slider. It depends on how much content I want to complete at a certain level (ergo, it stops me from out-leveling the content), or if I simply don't feel like leveling up that character. Everyone definitely has their own opinions about that--try out multiple ways and see what suits you best. :)

As for AA trees again, I honestly admit I've never looked up suggested trees for any of my classes. I check out their overall and top of the line abilities and see which ones suit my playstyle the best. I'm sure if I tried to join a hard core group or raid they'd laugh me off the field, but as a soloer I'm happier this way. ;)

^ mostly this.

Definitely it's always good to try the ones you think would be good, trial and error is the best way to fully understand what your abilities do and how they can help or slow you down, both in group and solo adventuring. Just because someone has posted that "build type A is the best to go"...they possibly only mean for the way that they play their character, when in fact there are limitless ways to play any class, and in fact some guilds that raid prefer not every class to be cookie cutter (Dirges for example, are so variable that it's boggling).

It can be beneficial to read peoples thoughts on specific AA abilities though. Someone may know something about it that isn't listed in game on the description. If you have joined a guild, that would be a good place to start by asking them for any pointers to see what they have done (again, not that you have to do it, but this way you can get some first person knowledge).

Also, it seems that in EQ2, there's not one or two gotta-have builds for each class, like WoW. You really are more free to customize your character.

I have a few, not previously mentioned hints for soloing that may be helpful also.

Buy level appropriate food and drink from the broker if you can afford it. Player made food can last up to 5+ hours each and has some really nice stat boosts.

Also, buy some totems. Totem of the "x" (Rat, wolf, bear, and so on..) will give additional run speed, hp regen, mana regen, invisibility, special vision and so on. Really, this is one of the cheapest and easiest buffs you can buy. They are also player made.

Mastercrafted hex dolls in your charm slots are really handy for debuffs and for pulls. There are different types and levels (also player made) thus they can be tuned to your type of play and can really make a difference when your soloing a difficult MOB. You also get a bonus if you have 2 Mastercrafted hex dolls in your charm slots. (hexing vexing is the bonus name.)

Now all of these are player crafted by a provisioner, a wood worker and a tailor respectively. Tailors can also make some "big ole" backpacks with a jillion slots and those are really nice.

As for all your AA's I will leave it to someone who has one, (Im currently hoping a guildy can help a brother out soon to get one) A Mirror of Reflected Accomplishments is what I think it is called. That allows you to respec your toon different ways. But like I said, I would love to have someone else explain it because I am unsure of its use, I just know that it is availible.

Cheers!

The Mirror of Reflected Achievements lets you save a spent AA profile and reload it, or swap between two AA profiles. If you did save a profile with at least 1 spent AA on it though you could use it for free resets.
