How do you know the game is up?

Used to they tell you in the patcher if the serveers was up, in fact they had a easy to find link on the eq2 website that told you it was up. Well as usual it seems the 2 hours downtime is going into 3 hours. Just wondering if there is a better way to check besides trying to log in and having it not find the world?

One way I know of, when you get the login screen, don't select a character. When you select Play, it will take you to the character select screen, and should indicate if the server is down.

I never check the official SOE Server Status page, as it is not very real-time.

I do exactly the same as Tutan, just don't select a character and let it go to the character select screen.

A functioning (and reliable) server status page somewhere is on a lot of people's wishlists.
