I am fairly unhappy as a shadowknight. I know it sounds silly, but I just hate freeport. The zones are dark and dreary and I just don't like it. I know everybody says once your 30+ it doesn't matter, but really it still does since you have to gate back to your hometown.

Anyways I started a new charactor it is now a lvl 9 fighter in Qeynos. I am not sure what class I want to be. I am pretty sure I don't want to be a brawler/monk. I am leaning mainly towards either a berserker/Paladin/guardian.

Anybody have some comments they would like to share on the main perks of each class? I know the Crusader gets heal type spells and a bunch of various DPS. I am mainly looking at which ones are the better soloers. I imagine in a group situation any of those 3 can be tanks (Berserker might be stretching it abit, but I have seen them tank).

Berserkers do make some dps and are able to tank, even though over time, in group situations, you will find yourself always just that tiny bit behind guardians that pull hate like crazy.

Paladins do a good job at soloing. Their tanking and capability to heal themselves make them more versatile than zerkers (that tend to do more damage). Pallies are prolly the best class to solo undeads, too.

Guardians have mainly the best tanking capability. Their taunts pull the most hate and they tend to absorb damage better than the 2 other classes. However, as far as dps go, they dont do as well, and you might find that your solo fights as a guardian might be longer than it is for the 2 other tanking classes you've mentioned.

On a very personal opinion, ive always loved pallies. Their versatility make them really valuable in a group too (even though what youre looking for is mainly soloing). They tank well, do ok damage and they can heal. Sadly it might be one of the most expensive class to sustain as far as equipment go, since to be as effective as you can be, you need to have fairly good stats in all areas.

Thanks for the info, you told me everything I need to know. I think I will go with the Paladin. Seems like they can tank in group situations, and solo fairly well.

Its not that I want to solo the entire time, its just I want to be able to during those wait time between groups (which can be considerable depending on time of day, etc).
