EQ2 Controller QuestionFollow

Okay I've scanned the forums and can't find any similar threads. I just have a quick question: Is there any way possible to play EQ2 with a PC game pad vice the mouse? I have a Logitech dual action that I always use. I'm so used to it with other games, and so far, it looks like I'm gonna have to change to keyboard and mouse... Is this true?

EQ2 is not a shooter. there is so much more that you need to do, so many letter key shortcuts available that it would be impossible to assign them all to the few keys found on a game controller.

This is a PC game, not a console game... you're just gonna have to play it like one.

Now, that being said, there are options out there. Belkin offers a real nice line of controllers that will occupy your left hand called "Nostromo". they come in a couple different flavors. The one I have is the "SpeedPad N52". Features include a "thumb located" 8-way directional control and 14 assignable push buttons plus a "hot button" and a thumb wheel. You can also set up 3 different preset combinations for the buttons, (say one for fighting and another for crafting), and toggle through them on the fly You can see it HERE

They also offer a "smaller" the model, the SpeedPad N50 with ten buttons and the directional control.

I have found the pad to be a really good design. I started with the N50 back in EQ and upgraded to the N52 just before EQ2 came out. I can't imagine playing without it and even carry my old N50 around in the bag for my laptop!

For your right hand, you might try a good trackball since, (imho), they offer more control than a conventional mouse.

There are also several nice keyboards available including one with replaceable key sets labeled for various games. Manufactured by Zboard, you can see the Everquest 2 model HERE

I have not tried this product, but they do seem to do a nice job.

Good luck and welcome to serious gaming.

(edited because some day I'll learn to spell... but that day is not today!)
