A quick rant...Follow

Is it just me or do you find players who insist on jumping around in enclosed spaces truly annoying?

Seems like I can't go to the bank or the crafting instance without having some toon jumping around the room like an 8 year old with a terminal case of attention deficit disorder.

It always reminds me of a child who snuck into the living room during his parents cocktail party and is running from adult to adult screaming LOOK AT ME... LOOK AT ME!!!

Id like to stick out a foot and watch as they skid face down across the floor...

Just sayin...

For some stupid reason, I jump constantly. I dont know why I do it, but anytime my fingers are on the movement keys my thumb is smashing the space bar.

*shrug*

Agree OBD. After 7 years of online gaming very few things wind me up now. But that sure is one of them, it just seems so selfish Smiley: disappointed

I only let my Frogloco jump for obvious reasons. I'll actually take short detours as I'm running to leap of rocks, logs, orcs...

I've been fortunate that I havent come across that lately. However the one thing that always makes me crack up is the graphics when you jump on a horse. I hope that one day they try and make ita little more realistic. Right now I feel like Im a barbie doll on a My Little Pony and someone is just picking up myhorse and moving it.

I have never really understood why anyone cares about this. I sometimes hop up and down out of boredom when I am waiting on someone, and I personally would rather have someone standing next to me jumping around, rather than just sitting there for hours without moving.

Mostly it's that attractive "puking" noise that characters make when they jump. Beyond that, I find it distracting to have someone bouncing up and down like a Jack Russell terrier for no particular reason. Add it all up and it becomes a major annoyance. It's kinda like having some moron standing next to you in the checkout line, whistling some pathetic pop song off-key.

Oh, that was you? Sorry, I just can't get R Kelly's "sex in the Kitchen" outta my head...

On a related note, Last time I was at the Bank (in Greystone), I was bored, sending tells to some peeps to get a group going, so I began flirting with Dori the bank teller. We danced, I winked, I even /beg-ged. No luck. I hope I entertained a few people, and it was better then jumping around like a loon (which i do on my froglok, truth be told).

She :P hehe

I don't mind the jumping sound, and most races, I actually like it. Personally, I think it is selfish to get angry at someone for jumping, and very rude to ask them to stop. I rarely do it, but I have no problem with other's doing it, and I think that you would have to be awfully sensitive for it to bother you. You usually don't stay in one place that long, unless you are crafting, and if that is the case, there are other crafting stations. Bottom line is, if you are the one that is getting annoyed, then it is up to you to go somewhere else. You can't turn around in the check out line, and ask the person whistling off-key pop songs behind you to stop without looking like a jerk. They will probably tell you to go to another check-out line if you do.

Ohhh, I may be guilty of being annoying when in the carfting guild hall. When ever I come in the zone I leap off the balcony to the crafting floor below. I only do this with my bard and my monk to build up their safefall level. I don't run around and do it repeatedly thoug. I only do when I am at the top and have to go down the stairs.

As for other areas of jumping I try to do this only when alone or two-boxing. I agree that it is very annoying when you are in a group and some twit is repeatedly jumping. I have asked someone before to quit jumping and they either thought I was joking or not serious. I quickly dumped them and left. Jumping just for the sake of jumping is one of those things that can quickly become annoying. I wonder if that is like a social animation and if you put them on the ignore list it would make a difference?

So let me see if I have this straight... you were a rude inconsiderate jerk when you played ego shooters and now that you are playing an MMO you are... still a rude inconsiderate jerk... somehow I'm not a bit surprised.

The jumping doesn't bother me, but I have a jack russel, so maybe I'm the wrong person to ask.

This annoys me as well. I've noticed that most players who do this are either playing as wood elf, gnome, or ratonga.

Mmmm never let it bother me, I think it is more annoying to stand next to someone and do /emote farts.

The jumping is just what kids do, my son who is 12 plays and he will jump all the time. Its just kids being kids and some adults too. No big deal.
#20 Nov 15 2005 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
You can emote farts???

I played EQ Live last night. I play it evey Monday night with my kids. Last night was a treat because I got to play my Barbarian Warrior in Dulak Harbor. She is my first EQ character that surved past her 10 level without suiciding out of a tre house. That's a whole nother story. LOL.

Anyway. I went to jump over a rock and had to laugh at the graphic. She looked like she was sqauting down to take a pea and then sprung into the air. The sound was was really rediculous. In compaing the two EQ games jump graphics I will "jump for joy" in EQII because I can.

But I will always be considerate with who is around. I try not to annoy anyone and don't jump repeatedly.

Ok, I will confess that when the frogs first came out and I created my gnome druid on the island I just couldn't resist the urge. I chased down those frogs (I think 9 out of every 10 was a frog) and hopped after them. But hey, once I got of the island and the hoppers thined out I contained myself and became the respectable walker/runner I am today. :)

- Jump and attack vocals will now play less repetitively.

Guess it must have bothered other people too...

I hate this also. Esspecially since my computer isn't the fastest and when in tight areas like BB, it lags me.
