got pissed at lfg all day again in eq 1 so i decided to give eq2 a longer look this time. As I was about to re-up my account I heard there was a soloing nerf? is that true?

Actually, the combat update seems to have helped most classes in both solo and group play. You may have to make adjustments to your basic play style since much was changed but overall, I think it went real well.

Logging back in for the first time since the update will cause you to re-choose all of your special abilities and upgraded spells since all the options have changed.

Time spent in this "forced" re-spec will vary depending on your level - my 35 warden, 26 ranger and 21 fury all took less than a half hour each. My 16 bard took a couple minutes.

hmmm so my level 6 pally shouldnt take to long then lol ..

does it still revolve around spamming heroic opportunities as far as melee solo?

HO's do give you extra damage, but the other abilities can give added effects...stun, knockback, stifle, etc.

It's best to use all abillities you have, coupled with good gear and upgraded spells - you shouldn't have any problem.

Keep in mind that a fighter is low DPS, so your fights will drag on longer than fights with a DPS class.

Some debuffs seem to be more effective since the update. Other special spells you may have picked up help a lot, when used correctly. Reading the description sometimes doesn't sound like much, but try them out at least once. You'll find you also have spells that work in certain situations but not in others. Overall they made combat more challenging and it requires some varied tactics, i.e. it's more interesting.

It seems to me that maybe they even added some extra solo mobs in Thundering Steppes. I have been working on getting my Skeletal veterans for some time but could never do the mob alone. This weekend I noticed that there were a lot of them roaming seperatly. Were they always there and I just missed them? I don't know.

THey pretty well made every class better at soloing... THe only one that they made MUCH worse was Templar.
I used to be a templar pre lu13.. ANd sure, soloing wasnt fast.. BUt I could do it alright.. And get alright exp..
Post lu 13.. It takes me 50% longer to kill stuff (and yes i upgraded spells, and even bought a fair bit of INT gear)
Only other class that I heard got a bit of a nerf was I think assassins.. but not sure.

Pld, i believe.. not sure.. dont quote me on this, is about the same as before... I THINK

I thought WIS was the primary attribute for Priest classes, and directly impacted your power pool?

For priests, wis does determine the size of your power pool, (hence the old school term "wis caster"), but post LU 13, int is used to determine nuke damage.

If Assassins got nerfed, they must have been ungodly gross before the combat revamp. I'm a relatively new EQ2 player (but an old MMO player - see my sig), and I never played EQ1 pre-revamp. My main character is an Assassin, and I just love being able to go places that would squish Warriors like paste, finding the right mob in the right place, and taking them out with just one well-timed backstab, then fading back into the shadows again.

From what I've been hearing on all of the different boards, the main changes are: Most classes are more capable of soloing whites and below, and the Con color code (and arrows) actually MEAN something now. Yellow ^ is certain death unless you're twinked eight ways to Sunday, and even then, you're probably going to be a red smear on that monster's paw. Triple-up monsters are just simply not solo material at all - at least, not if you expect to get any XP or serious loot (IE, chests) out of the deal.
