Oger magesFollow

Well I'm not quite an everquester part Du yet (as per the Profile) and dont quite know weather an Oger would make a good mage or not, I do know however after having played EQ1 that Race after about lvl 30 or so really didnt make much difference. BUT my question isnt really will ogers make good mages but will it be terribly difficult untill a certain level to play an oger mage. I'm normally a High elf Guy myself but really just find the Restrictionlessness of EQ2 intruiging and would like to see an oger mage out in the feild. tell me what you all think seeing as how even the newest newb know more than me, I'm like PRE-NEWB. oh well.

The good thing about EQ2 is that any race can play any class.

Even though initial stats are different (Ogre's are strong but dumb) that will soon be overcome by equipment that gives you +INT bonuses.

So playing an Ogre Mage will work perfectly fine, and be something we just don't see every day. :)

Thanks for the Info,I kind of Figured that an Oger (in the Long Run) wouldnt really make a difference ability wise, BUT do you think that it would be difficult to play as one for the first 10 or so levels?

There is no difference in difficulty between the races at any level, even the first 10. All the mobs you are fighting at low levels don't have extra abilities or mitigations, so you are about evenly matched.

I've been playing an Oger mage...now Oger Conjurer for several months now off and on and it's one if not my favorate character. The hardest thing was doing the betrayal quest, I did it alone (not in a guild) but it was worth it.

Not only did I make my appearance unique for an Oger, there are very few ogers in Qeynos and even less of them are casters. I've not found it all that hard to play and I've plenty of items that keep my Int up. I'm sure I have less power and a few more fizzs on average then the normal Mage but I prefer being Unique.

Thats Great! I am going to live the Oger Dream, and if they aren't going to be hurt as far as actual ability goes then the Betrayal quest doesnt seem too hard, or at least hard enough to not do it.

I like the Story to be thick right off the bat, that way when the plot thickens its like sending everyone to McDonalds for a triple thick shake!

One of my first characters in EQ2 (who has now been converted to a Crafting Alt) was a Barbarian Mage. She has never had any problems doing her job as a Mage, either while soloing or grouping.

Race really isn't that big of an issue (unless you want to make a Good race with an Evil class, or vice-versa). Go with what you want. I've seen a Ratonga Paladin... =^_^=
