ok, i've played EQ (hated it/stupid PvP server). i'm almost absolutely bored with WoW. will EQ2 spark me at all? i've played it, when it first released, got a lvl 16 crusader, stopped playing. picking up again since i get a free 7 or 10 day trial or whatever it is for coming back.

is it worth staying? i'm not a hardcore gamer, but i more or less play daily, usually for 2hrs during the week, more on weekends. i think i'll miss the WoW quest NPCs that have the big ! over their heads telling me they have a quest to do, that i know for sure.

what about the rest? it seems that the population is now populated with higher level players, so what chance do i have for playing by myself? can the 'fighters' live through fights without dying? will a 'berserker' get out meleed by a mob when soloing? has PvP been introduced at all? are the 'priests' nothing more than heal bots? i saw a shaman can become a bear at level 20...is that for looks? just looking for some ideas.

i've been back about 3 days, and i've gotten a mage to 6 and a scout to 6. my woodelf scout dies a lot, little to no hitpoints. my gnome mage at level 6 has more HPs than my scout at 6. wassup with that?

just looking for some help...trying to spark up my MMORPG life again

EQ2 NPC's don't just stand there stiff as a board. If they have a quest for you, you'll see them trying to get your attention, beckoning you. And really, I would just assume they all have a quest and talk to them. They probably do.

You're not the only one coming back, we get a lot of WoW defectors posting even with the small community we have here. Population is on the rebound. You can make money because there are never enough lower level items up for sale on the broker.

All classes can solo (including priests), it's just a matter of finding the technique that works for you and possibly the types of MoB's to use it on. Clerics can wipe the floor with undead where other types of enemies at the same level might be more difficult. All priests have some sort of utility beyond healing, with the possible exception of Templars. (If we're supposed to be Junior Crowd Control then we need more and faster stuns, longer Mez and roots.)

There is dueling now, and there is a PvP arena in the expansion.

Wood Elves are kind of weak. Later on as you get more stealth, way higher DPS and up your agility you'll come into your own.

The important thing is to have fun. Duel people in the streets, make crazy macros, craft food.

Key is to make a few friends by grouping, remember the people who don't suck, and add them to friends. makes the game better, having folks to group with.

Don't leave the isle of refuge till:
1) you're almost to the point that you can't get any more XP. Leave a lil room for xp from the citizenship task...
2) You hasrvest enough stuff on the isle to max out your gathering skills (gathering, fishing, mining, timbercraft). Easiest place in the world to skillup on gathering. Keep 20 stacks of Roots, Tin, lead, and wood. All these are useful in early crafting, plus you can sell them on the broker for a little $$$ once you get a market board for yr room. Also, keep canine saliva if u plan to craft, cheap replacement for liquid in crafting recipies.
3) You do the Dreak quest in the tower, so you can get the bag and 2nd quest in town, which lets you craft a bunch of stuff and gives you a vest that increases yr tradeskills. Even if U don't plan on crafting, still worth doing, since you can sell the stuff you make, and you get a decent 10 slot bag for harvestables.
4) Do all the quests you can. They get you armor to start with, XP, and sometimes good weapons. Rockbelly's cutlass is pretty good to start with. The necklaces and bracelets aren't bad, either.
5) Kill goblin siege planner or warmonger, heroic goblins, to get 6 slot bag. It's nice to get a 6 slot early on, since space is a big issue at first.

After that, go nuts! Do your calss quest, where you get to pick one of 3 advancement paths. For a good scout, it's Ranger, Swashbuckler, or bard. Of course, you can betray and become part of the other city, gaining access to different classes. All up to you.

Once you get to your teens in Lvl (not hard to do), you'll see more folks LFG. Lots of the L50+ peeps have alts, and more folks like yrself are starting new chars, so you should be good finding groups. Just remember who the good players are, and avoid the few Leroys we have running about.

And of course, roll a char on Mistmoore. We seem to have a good population...

O.o ph3ar the newb with 80 slots of storage...

That's like 1500 more raws than you need to get to Artisan level 10. I hope you mean 1 stack of 20 of each item. ;)

Hehe. Now that's funny. I am sure that is exactly what he meant. And, you are right. Since your first two levels of Artisan are pretty much given to you if you do Dreak's quest, you only have to gain 6 levels. 2 stacks of each of these should suffice to get you to level 9.
