What's The Deal ?Follow

Allright... Curious about something, on Allakhazam the main forum here for EQ2 has posts ranging from AUGUST 24th to SEPTEMBER 2nd on page 1....

Every single other game on the site, with a main forum and others, pretty much get 1-2 full pages of threads each day. I mean is there really that HUGE of a lack of Players on EQ 2 ? How can it be possible that FFXI gets about 5x the posts, EQ 1 8x, WOW about the same as FFXi.... and yet we get maybe 3-4 new topics a day if that?

I really am loving EQ2 but what's the point of staying around if there's really this few people playing it?

Not sure... Partly the reason I think is because no one is trying really hard to update the EQ2 part of allakhazam.. Most of the quests, items, etc are so lacking.... Why go here when you can go to ogaming which has a way better database.

also, have you actually read any of the posts on the FF11 forums. They are almost invariably worthless. The tradeskill forums produce 20 new skill up guides daily.

sorry... I really don't like those forums

Simple answer is that 2 of those games have a much higher percentage of drooling morons posting questions like; "OMFG - dood like what job makes the most $$$", and "What class is the most l33t uber stone killer for me to be?".

In the case of EQ1, it is a MUCH larger game and does genuinely get more quality traffic... the other two... ummm, not so much.

Don't confuse thread count and post count with player base. We're around, we just prefer to figure a lot of stuff out on our own.

Also this site has lower people cause of the EQ2 official forums is where most the garbage posts that you see on the other forums go to.

I wish we had a little more threads going on here but overall at least most the OMGWTF I LOST UBER SWORD XXX is not on this forum.

No, I'm still not clear on that? How exactly does 'post farming' work then?
#11 Sep 04 2005 at 6:55 PM Rating: Good
Post farming is when people make multiple posts that dont say anything. Stuff like I agree, good idea, your an idiot, or GFY. Some people think that for some reason that little number by their name means something, when it doesnt mean squat.

As far as the number of posts in the forum they dont mean anything. Quantity does not mean quality. Though these forums are slow, there is several other places for info so people wont always come here.

FFXI doesn't have official forums outside Japan, so Alla more or less fills that role for US players. You'll find most of the heavy WoW posters are people who switched from FFXI and used those boards here.

EQ2 isnt popular because it has mediocre graphics and requires a 2000 dollar PC powered by the blood of a thousand virgins to run at 50 frames maybe?

3ghz P4 800mhz FSB
OC'd Radeon X300 128mb Pci-e
1gb PC3200 dual channel ram
7200rpm sata150 hdd
At 800x600 res wich is ugly and low detail (makes textures look like clay and WoW even looks better..) I can drop to 4 frames...HL2 can hit 70 on my comp..

The super PC's are the nich market and this is the market they targeted...They wrecked a good game because of it.

So far I think a site like alla is more neccesary for eq1 because the quests are convoluted and eq they spell out what to do. for example in eq1 if you want to do the OT hammer quest the guy says 'bring me my favorite jewel', well you would go to alla and read posts, in eqII so far they tell you exactly what you need. The epic quests in eq1 are incredibly vague. It is almost part of the charm though because you had to figure it out or ask people for parts.

as far as the graphics, I think they just future proofed them so they won't look bad in a year, you can run them at a lower rez, and some people prefer that to cartoony WoW.

There is no correlation between the number of allakhazam posters, and number of people playing eq2. I rarely post here, unless I have something to add of value, or disagree with, your post falling into the latter category.
