Has EQ2 changed since betaFollow

#1 Aug 31 2005 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
I was in the EQ2 beta, didn't like the game much, and moved to WoW. I'm just about tired of WoW now, downloaded the EQ2 trial, the old tutorial island, and think I might like EQ2 over WoW now. But I wonder if some of the bad things in the EQ2 beta changed.

Can you solo effectively now or are you still locked in to grouping from about lvl 18 and later?

Is the lag/stuttering in Qeynos and Freeport, and Anatonia still a problem or did they ever get that problem ironed out?

Thanks for any input.

There is solo content in just about every zone. Anyone can solo all the way to 50, just won't get the big loot drops.

The city zones may be laggy, especially Qeynos Harbor. Blackburrow also lags, but Antonica is fine. Most zones work properly.

Well, at the end of the EQ2 beta, you could solo also after lvl 17 or so, you just wouldn't want to because the game was set up, via quests, content, even whole zones, for groups only. This idea, that grouping is good, and soloing is bad what was drove so many of us to WoW.

It would have been ok if the game had supported a grouping is very good and soloing is only good though. That's what I want to know, is soloing ok in the game vision now? Are there enough soloable quests after the late teens now? Is there more soloing content? Are there still lots of zones and instances that are for groups only.

We RL people who sometimes can spend 4 hours in the game, but other times only 60 - 90 minutes still need a good game home and I was hoping maybe EQ2 had evolved into that.

So, how is the soloing experience now. Are there quests to do? Places to see? Or is it just grinding against another rat or snake?

Thanks for any input you have.

In the currant form this game is highly soloable. Yes there are group required quests, but they are not required from I have encontered. I have gotten almost to 40 solo grouping less then 10 times.

Now I wont say grouping isnt better, it gives more company, and you can take on harder stuff for better rewards, but you have to share those.

I also cant tell how the combat revamps will change me, hopefully it will be better then it sounds.

Splitpaw : Harclave zone gives about 50% exp per run (difficult setting) @ level 31. Drops range from vendor trash to Master spells. Zone is 100% soloable and is not too tricky on difficult setting. Takes about 2 hours to finish and no re-pops so you can easily find a place to sit your toon if wife calls and/or emergency comes up. There is a 2 hour set time limit between runs however which is fine by me.

I have a level 31 Paladin and this got me back into adventuring. Before that I was strictly crafting with my 41 carpenter.

The Arena Champion is a different matter altogether. I cannot beat the champion on Easy with all my heal and ward spells ready to go. Just cannot do it....

Yes it is Solo able, but MANY HQ and other normal quest's will be undoable untill after you gray the mobs out. At 50L there are still many mobs my SK can not tale solo and many quests I still need a group to finish.

I solo 80% of the time and group with guild mates the rest of the time. I never do pick up groups. Unlike EQ this game (EQ2) has to many people who know not the way to act in groups. So joining a good grouping type guild will help also.

Well it sounds like soloing is doable these days, thats nice to hear.

Broan, what server and what guild do you belong to. Sounds like a good guild for me and if I get on that server, I may try to join a guild like yours, if they are still recruiting then.
