Anyone interested in Guilds and the faction and status info
All of this was directly copied from Tasahof on EQ2 forums but recently edited by me to try to get more current.

What are City Tasks (aka Writs)?
City Tasks are quests offered by various NPCs in Qeynos and Freeport that allow players to earn XP for their guilds and personal status for themselves.

What is Personal Status?
Personal status is a value that represents your direct involvement with performing City Tasks. If you do a writ that yields 1500 status points, your personal status will increase by 1500.

How much Personal Status do I get for doing a City Task?
The number varies and increases with the difficulty of the writ you have choosen to complete. So far I have only seen between 1200-2000 status for writs, expect this number to increase as you level and take on harder writs.

What is Personal Status used for?
Personal status is like coin, you can use it to purchase (or supplement a purchase) of items from City Merchants and various houses and apartments in your cities (Qeynos and Freeport).

What are City Merchants?
City Merchants are merchants that only sell to guild members, the items they carry and prices they offer (items on these merchants cost both coin and status points, at a reduced coin rate) are based off your guild level. There is also a second type of merchant, Prestige Merchants, these merchants are faction based.

Where are the City Merchants/Prestige Merchants?
There should be 4 City Merchants (in Qeynos proper, QH, EG, NQ, SQ) and 5 Prestige Merchants (one per faction).

How do I Contribute my Personal Status to my guild?
It's automatic, but it only happens if you are in the guild when you complete it. When you complete a writ a portion of that status is automatically given to your guilds XP bar. While the exact percent is unknown it's something around 4-5%. A writ that yields 1500 status is giving about 50 status to your guild.

How many City Tasks can I get from each NPC?
You can only have 1 City Task from each NPC, but you can delete this City Task and choose a different one until you find one your liking. At this time you can only have 4 City Tasks (total, 1 from each NPC) at a time.

What are the City Tasks I can get?
City Tasks are based on your characters level and progress as your character progresses. Doing these tasks will yield both XP for you (from the mobs) and XP for your guild (from completing the task). Writs are broken into Tiers based on level, as of this posting we know of 4 different Tiers (i'm sure there will be more as we level up). Each NPC represents a faction of Qeynos. Basically, EG - Scouts, SQ - Mages, NQ - Fighters, Temple of Life - Priests. You will earn faction for doing writs from certain NPCs.

This info is older but still accurate to an extent but does not list the Tradeskill Writs as Meark pointed out

Tradeskill Writs are given in North Qeynos and in West Freeport from the person behind the desk in the respective Tradeskill Instances

Ironforge Exchange located behind the Mansion in North Qeynos.
The Coalition of Tradesfolke located under the building located at the zone line to East Freeport in West Freeport.

Both will give tradeskill writs to make 10 of a random item that you should be able to make based on your tradeskill that you choose. Reward is guild exp and money that you would have gotten from vendoring the items off.

Edit to fix links, add links, and update

Editing Skill up 2 points!

Edit to try to bring the info a little more up to date and removed a house item link as the link no longer works.

[sm]Editing skill has gained a level and is now level 72!!!

One more thing to add regarding writs: there are actually 5 factions. The Ironforge Exchange in NQ gives the Tradeskill writs.

Awesome post, btw. Rate up

Edited to add loc of Ironforge Exchange

Lol I kinda figured it would be a little silly to link sites on alla, with them right here on the same screen anyway. I was just trying to make up for the lack of content we still currently have and a nice way to see a lot of stuff without searching a web engine.

Wow, this thread is going to help me out a lot. And thanks to the "bump" I saw it right off. I vote for this thread to be a sticky as well.

As a noob to EQ2, and never had played EQ, I will say that the game is very intimidating. It is enjoyable because of the "feel" of the game, but it does get confusing when you are a lone noob trying to figure things out.

Nice post. One thing that needs to be updated, though:
Quote:
What are City Tasks (aka Writs)?
City Tasks are quests offered by various NPCs in Qeynos and Freeport that allow patrons to earn XP for their guilds (player guilds) and personal status for themselves. Followers can also do City Tasks but only earn personal status. To date there are 4 NPCs in Qeynos and 4 in Freeport (soon to be a 5th in each, offering a tradeskilling writ).

Sony did away with the Patron/Follower concept; anyone in a guild is now able to contribute to the Guild's XP/GSP.
