Saw a new ad banner here. It was for EQ2 and said, "Come back or try it free for 7 days."

I guess there are falling numbers and SOE is on a campaign to regain players.

I wonder where one could find actual subscription numbers for games.

Bracing for all the anti-EQ2 flames of I-told-you-so.

Because there is no chance they are trying to drum up hype for the expansion? Or let the folks who quit for whatever reason (don't want to group all the time, no reason to group, games to hard, games to easy, etc) that maybe they have fixed the issue?

People worry about these things to much.

Thanks OBD. I knew there was a site that did it, just couldn't remember which.

Interesting data, thanks for that link Oldblue.

A bit old data, especially on WoW with the extra 1,7 million subscribers in China.

But with several 'big hitters' being released this year and early next year, I do wonder what will happen to EQ and the others.

I mean, Dungeons&Dragons online is said to be out in November this year, Vanguard will be out soon too and then there's Lord of the Rings online some time soon. And there are plenty more in 2006. (with ofcourse Star Trek online as my personal favourite)

Oh, for the data on Matrix online there is nothing, to be honest, I tried the game recently, there were only three servers available. (not sure if it was global or not, but I believe it was) After playing the game and then exorcising my computer to get rid of it again, I doubt that there are many still playing it, the bad reviews I read of it were all too true.

Thanks OldBlue. I had forgotten all about that site. I added a link to it to my webpage. I like collecting good EQ related sites there. The older I get tha more I forget. So the more I put on my webpage the better off I am. Thanks.

Here is the address directly to the EQII page: http://www.zoobecca.com/EverQuest/EQII_sites.htm

interesting, but outdated, based on numbers coming from different sources at different time, really not scientific :)

It would be good to really have a real picture of the mmorpg traffic but i doubt competition will ever let it happen
