(I'm soon to be on EQII and I wanna know what im doing somewhat) (I know im missing something completely in the open here, please give me the benefit of the doubt). But the last EQ game i played was EQOA Frontiers and I'm completely lost. To raise your adept to I, II, III and apprentice etc., you have to buy or make them or somehow find them? just wanna know if i have this straight. Some help would be much appreciated, Thnks!
You can buy them or make them.
Most app IIs are buyable from NPC vendors (called trainers). App IIIs and IVs are player made. Adept Is are dropped (from chests), adept IIs don't exist (except for your training upgrades at lvls 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50), and adept IIIs are player made, but from rare materials. Master Is are dropped from chests, but are quite rare.
You won't need to worry about adept IIIs or masters for a while; app IVs and adept Is should be plenty.

That cleared that up, thanks a bunch :)
Although adept III pets rock. I can solo, some green (heroic)^^^ mobs with an adept III pets. I make them as soon as i can because i am a sage by profession.
A good scholar can make most adept 2-3 spells the problem is the ink components are rare and often not even available for any sane price (if at all), also some special spells are only found in rare books and trying to collect a set is hard not to mention expensive. Usually the apprentice series uses common ingrediants and can be found more easily so apprentice 3 is usual and 4 is not uncommon.
sage's cant make adept II spells.
Adept 1 spells drop off monsters.
Adept 2 spells are only available as a level up skill choice
Adept 3 spells are player made. No matter which bracket of quality the sage makes (crude, shaped, normal, or pristine) the spell always comes out adept III
