Momentous occasions all around today!

Anyway, I'm gonna make this thread useful.

Is there any way to tell when a weapon will not work against a certain mob? Let's take The Darkpaw Fanglord as an example.

I was duoing with a Troubie and we saw him passing through the woods all alone. Prior to this, we had been beating down lvl 18 ++heroic Caltorsis Knights for the AQ1 quest. Anywho, I had been using dual wield crushing items, which are orange to me, to skill up. They worked just fine against the level 18's. When we got to the Fanglord, I forgot to equip my shield and sword (which is yellow, btw) before we started. I start "beating" on him with the batons and get a message that says they are too weak. Which leads to the question. Any way to tell pre-fight if there is a certain item type that will be resisted by the mob?

I have not found anyway to tell before the battle if weapons would work or not. Just the other night I was helping my guild with grimfeather, I am using 2 lvl 35 weapons at 35, it was 37 epic*2 and none of my weapon attacks would do anything, but my attack songs would.

I've noticed that too. My skills still work, but my weapons won't. That doesn't make much sense. I say this because if you have a low ratio in a particular skill, such as blunt (66/112 for example), and you are fighting a mob that is blue or white to you, your skills will hit, just not as often.

By that logic, enemies that can't be touched by your weapon, can't be touched by your skills, but that isn't true. Confusing.

The mob probably has a minimum weapon requirement. i.e. silver weapons or magical weapons. Quite common on the Epic mobs.
