Bruiser vs. MonkFollow

#1 Aug 10 2005 at 9:56 PM Rating: Decent
Hi all,

I recently foraged up enough cash to get the minimum requirements to play EQII (woohoo!). I played EQI, but there seems to be much more class variance in this game. I've decided on a fighter, and I'm geared towards a Bruiser or Monk, as it was what I played in EQI. I have a few noobish questions if you all would take the time to humor me:

1) Which do more damage over time?
2) Which have a lesser chance of being hit? (I'm assuming this will be the monk, as the bruiser seems to be more offensive/less defensive.) In terms of mitigation, avoidance, ect.
3) Which have a greater soloing potential? (I know this is a very general question, but I couldn't find any better way to word it...sorry.)

I suppose (since my questions obviously weren't that good) I just want to know the differences between these two apparantly similar classes. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.

I took a look at the skill lists as well and couldn't necessarily tell any difference. The skills all look similar.

1.) Bruisers do slightly more damage.
2.) Not sure, although you're right about monks being a little more defensive than bruisers. Both have pretty high avoidance, but can't wear medium or heavy armor, so their mitigation isn't as good as other fighters'.
3.) I've heard good things about both. Since the classes are so similar, it probably won't make much difference.

1. Brusiers do more damage over time. This of course is in an equal world. This will vary do to weapons and gear and spell levels but for the most part it is true.

2. Both have high avoidance so they are doing to dodge the same.. the difference comes in the form of the defensive buffs that monks have over brusiers.. monks will take less damage then brusiers do when they do get hit( also subject to gear spells and skill)

3. I might be biased but I think the brusier is better solo while the monk is a bit better in the group. Because the brusier is going to kill faster but take more damage so it evens out.. the difference is the heals.. the monk has a targetable heal with a high recast.. the brusier has a self heal with a much shorter timer.. you make it as short as 60 secs and with the training upgrade you can heal yourself for like 1400 pts at lvl 45 anyway.. In in a tough fight I can get that heal off twice so your talking about extending your hp 3k with just your own heals...

45 Brusier here if you wonder where this all come from..
