Yes and, to a lesser extent, no. Arrows don't necessarily determine damage, but they do determine effectiveness. For instance, some arrows will be grey to you. If you try using these on a higher level mob, they will just bounce off and a message will come up telling you your arrows are too weak. Try to go with the white arrows. They are a safe bet.

And he is standing under a tree in the "park" near the steps that lead up to the castle proper.

Thank you both for the info.

Now i got Gnoll - Paw, Tooth, Tail and i dont know what to do with these.. they are all Lore items... Which i dont understand why.. Its not like all hte gnolls only share one tooth or tail ;p

Another question..i love alla to death but is there another site that is more complete then alla? Alla said the gnoll parts are just junk which i am not sure if that is true or not.

thanks again in advance
#37 Aug 07 2005 at 6:08 PM Rating: Good
no the knoll parts arent all junk. there is a lore and legend quest that you can do that uses some of the parts. if you can get to the keep of the gnollslayers and you open or examine this box, it gives you a lore and legend to find. you have to find a gnoll heart, brain and spirit which cannot be looted but its just something you have to find and it will update in your quest log, but you have to have those 3 first before examining any other gnoll parts. if you get other parts like a tail, paw, tooth, ear and eye which you get by looting the gnolls you kill keep them in your inventory but whatever you do dont examine them first because if you do you will have to restart the quest. once you have gotten the spirit, heart and brain , then you can examine the other parts.

hope i didnt confuse you but im sure if i am wrong someone who is a much more experienced player than i am can tell you whats right.

I've never noticed this myself, but everything else catdiesta said sounds right to me. Could this be a bug they fixed?

There are several lore and legend quests which involve killing several of the same mob type and getting quest flags and certain items from them. When you finish a quest, you'll get a book about the species you were killing, and a weapon to hang on the wall of your inn room. The quest starters for lore and legend quests are books found in various parts of the world; the gnoll one is indeed at keep of the gnollslayers in Antonica.

NIce, thanks for the info lietra!

I believe that if that was true at one point, its definitely been fixed. I've done many L&Ls (actually, I'm on the last one now) and I've usually examined some number of the items and then gotten the non-item updates, then gotten a last item or 2 to examine. In other words, the order has never mattered.

Just keep slaughtering. The idea is that the L&L is a MASTERY of the creature you are studying. You can't master the knowledge about the creature by killing a handful of creatures and studying them. No, you must kill hundreds to truly understand how they fight, how they move... whatever it is that we are studying here :)

Anyway, unlike most other people, I've never had to delete an L&L and start over, I've always just kept killing more critters until it finally completed. I think people just aren't patient enough.

another newb question. I tried ot access my vault to put some boxes in it... How do i do that in my house? I got a bulletin board and i see vault there..but it wont let me do a thing with it.Do i got to buy something else?

You actually get to your vault by double clicking on your door from the inside. Once you double-click the door, you should see a button that says house vault. When you open the vault there will be two slots. Throw some bags, or even better, strong boxes, in both slots and you will have the beginnings of a nice little shop. Put anything you want to sell in the bags/boxes. Then, once you have what you need in there, go to the board and click on Vault Merchandise. This is where you can set your prices. Happy Selling!

Don't try to rip people off too bad Smiley: grin

heheh I got 4 pristine teak boxes filled with collection parts. I was bored sunday morning and just farmed the stuff in forest ruins. They sell great and only for 15s each. Which i look on the broker and its a LOT lower then most people's prices. Some people sell some of that stuff for over 1g!!!!! That is crazy!

I will have to check that out in a minute..got a few things i got to do at work first heh.

Is there a command to show your FPS in game?

Only way I've found is to download and use FRAPS. It gives you a relativley large number in the corner of your screen that tracks it.

I started using it, but soon didn't really need to keep track of my FPS since I could tell when it dropped. It was also distracting to keep looking in the corner at the number as I was running to zone, screaming all the way.

FRAPS is also good for recording movies of gameplay, if thats your forte'.

If you find Deer Meat, keep it and sell it on the broker, you may even get a few gold.

It is a recipie component for a Heritage Quest, The Teachings of Yoru.

I tried to farm the meat myself, and after a few hours of no luck, I dragged myself to the broker and forked over 2g for deer meat.

And since I'm on a roll...

Sell Sullied High Quality pelts (bear, wrinkled, deer, lioness) at the broker also. They are used to make Etched Hide Plate, which is a recipie component for the Shroud of the Manastone, which leads to the Manastone itself.

jeez, almost like 6 degrees of separation...

I'm using combat stats. Nicely written application that includes a small window listing stats for the entire group. User features allow you to choose which stats end up being displayed including magic damage procs etc.

There is also a feature that throws all the data for the current fight into your Windows buffer so you can paste it into the chat line for everyone to see.

All data is stored for your purusal after the session.

You can find them HERE

Free download but they do accept donations.

You can equip it and click it to use during combat. Should be a 1-time use DD. I've seen some that are stackable, so you can find and stack more than one for use.

After you equip it, drag the icon to your hotbar. That way you can click it during combat.

That will also establish that hotbar spot as the "equipped item" spot. So whenever you equip something else, it's icon will automatically appear on your hotbar.

I frequently switch between a SOW totem, Splitpaw Tele-Shard, and Manastone.
