ProvisionerFollow

I am in the process of making a provisioner to make my own food and take some of the strain off of the guild provisioner. I was just wonder if anyone has a list of the long duration food and drinks as well as what the different statted foods are?

EQ2 traders corner is the best place I know for listings of recipes in all the crafts including provisioner. They can be found HERE.

Generally you are looking for 5+ hour foods and 3+ hour drinks and there are some in every tier. My rule of thumb is; the more complex the recipe is, the more time it is likely to last.

So, where black tea or orange juice are only worth an hour each, orange tea is worth 3+ hours. and where a ciclid steak is worth an hour, a ciclid sandwich is good for 5+ hours.

As far as what boosts what - (taken from the 4/6/05 update notes):
Quote:

- Provisioner crafted food will now give stat increases. The type of food determines the benefit it provides:
- Meat (Jerky, Sandwich, Grilled): +Strength
- Fish (Jerky, Sandwich, Grilled, Baked, Breaded): +Agility
- Pasta/Casseroles (Meat or Fish): +Stamina
- Fruit (Dried or Candied): +Intelligence
- Nuts and Vegetables (Candied): +Wisdom
- Trail Mix: +Intelligence, +Wisdom
- Sweets (Chocolates, Fudge, Pie, Cake, Muffins, Cookies): +Maximum Power
- Soup, Omelet, and Stew: +Maximum Health

So where do yo buy things like temper, coal, or kindling??

Thanks

Tempers, (along with Oils, Resins and Washes), have to be made by players. You can make them yourself at the chemistry table or buy them through the broker. Coal, kindling and all the other fuels can be bought from the NPC located inside every crafting instance.

Be careful when you're buying fuels since they are now all tier specific. You don't want to purchase 4 stacks of cherry kindling when you really wanted walnut kindling.

To verify what you're buying, right click on the item in the NPC sales list and choose examine. The description will tell you what tier that fuel is for.

I just got to working on tier 3 with my level 21 provisioner. I'm happy to sit and refine away, but the problem is materials that I need go for over 20sp per unit on the market. I've searched all over the Thundering Steppes, but I can't find a good place to gather from high plains shrubbery. If anyone can help me out by giving me a /loc or a general area to gather I would be eternally grateful!
P.S.-If you play on befallen send me a tell or write me a mail; I'm happy to fill any order, regarless of size, if the price is right :).

One of my favorite spots to forage in T-Steppes is South of Tower 3 and East of Tower 4. There is a smallish open area just North of Ruins Of Karana and the entrance to Varsoon along the Eastern zone edge. There are plenty of skellies around there to smack while you forage but nothing else is aggro unless you've already ganked your centaur faction so it's a pretty safe spot to gather in.

If you're having trouble finding the nodes you need, a good trick is to harvest everything else in that area. This will cause new nodes to spawn and since they are random, you should see some stuff you can use pop up. As a bonus, you just might catch a rare while you're harvesting the nodes you don't really want and even if you don't, you can always sell or destroy the stuff you didn't need.

OK, got started now level 10 Provisioner wood elf, where can I get higher level recipes?
#8 Aug 07 2005 at 12:59 AM Rating: Good
At lvl 10 you should be a craftsman. At lvl 20 you can go provie.

Never the less, to answer your question, To get the higher level books, you will need to join a new society in your home village. (Don't quit the wholesaler! Just join an additional society)

Depending on where you live, it will be one of the other three in your town. Don't worry, only the "right" one will let you join. The other two will blow you off!

(I just noticed that you said Wood Elf so you should be in Willow Wood. The craftsman's society there is inside the blacksmith's shop)

Once you have joined the craftsman's society, you will be able to buy craftsman books for lvl 10 through lvl 19 and provisioner's books for lvl 20 through lvl 50.

Good luck and happy crafting!

Thanks for the tip, and that reminds me of another thing that was bugging me about provisioners. I was talking to a buddy of mine who is a sage. He was telling me, as close as I can remember, that in order to make adept spells he had to buy volumes of advanced sage number _, and I said I've never heard of advanced volumes. I checked the market, and I didn't see a single entry for an advanced provisioner. Is the qeynos market deficient on my server, or do they simply not exist?

There are no such things as rare provisioner recipes. Food is consumable, and provisioners use so many different items as primary components in various recipes that it'd be hard to pick some to make rare versions of.

Also, there are no rare harvests from shrubs. All 8 or 9 items in each tier are considered common. There are some rare recipes but they are quested and are single recipes, not books.

Two that I know of are Golden Acorns (tree within a tree) in Antonica and the Apple Pie recipe - which comes from I know not where since I'm not even close enough in level to go get it!!!

Apple Pie recipe is from a quest in EL and it's hardly anything to get excited about Smiley: wink

We need some exotic cookbooks Smiley: grin

So is Golden Acorns an rare recipe in that it's better than other provisioner recipes, or just rare in that you have to quest to get it?

Depends on how you look at it, I think. It could be considered better in that they are "superior" regen like quest foods. However, they are also short duration, (like quest foods), and personally, I like long duration and have never had a problem with player food regen.

So, I think it's just rare because you can't buy it - it's a no-trade quest reward, so the toon that completes the quest can either scribe it or destroy it! My warden scribed it but hasn't made a single one to date!
