I and Many DisagreeFollow

I think that many need to rethink the roll of Zerkers in EQ2.

Zerkers have plently of dmg to dish out and the AC to boot.

Personally i think this is the only dmg class to wear plate/vanguard. And it is tossed into the boring life of the
MT's.

Has anyone actually looked up the definition of a Berzerker???
I just fins it hard to believe that a character that can put out lots of dmg in a short amount of time is suppose to be only a tank in this game.
I solo 98% of the time, and do well at it. I hardly ever heed the call for a MT in a group with my Zerk but i do with my Paladin.
I think that the EQ2 community stereotypically casted the plate wearing Zerker into the MT pool with the other classes without actually thinking its real purpose.
Yes Zerker have some taunts, but not like the other classes. I just dont understand why having so much dmg output and to be cast as an MT.
Now rumours of changing the tank classes is admist. Hopefully they understand that not everyone who likes wearing plate mail should be cast into the boring line of taunting and sitting there getting beat while a cloth wearer does the dmg. Just something wrong with that picture.
Make the general tanks the Guardians, etc..leave the Zerker as a DD, like the definition of the character is stated to be. Not what the community thinks it should be.

Fighters were intended to all be tanks from the get-go. It is true that right now berserkers, monks, and bruisers have nice DPS, but that was not the intention of the devs. That's why they are revamping the classes...to make sure the fighters stay tanks, not DPS.
Besides, a plate-wearing character with high DPS would be a little overpowered. Having the AC of a plate character while dishing out huge amounts of damage encompasses two roles.

Zerkers and Guardians are 2 sides of the same coin, one is offensive, the other defensive.

It's a shame you don't like being MT, but likely that players will always expect that of you.

Only thing you can do is make sure there's always a Guardian in your group. Smiley: smile

I never did get the line about being a plate wearing fighter but not wanting to be a tank... anyway after the revamp your role will be all the more directed towards main tanking. As a matter of fact your dps will depend on you being the main tank as your dps will come from being beserk.

If you are not the mt and not getting hit.. first your auto attack damage is being reduced as well as most of your good abilites requiring you to be beserk will mean you have sub par dps and no utility to the group there won't be a desire to put you in a dps role.

After the revamp seeing a zerker mt with a guardian oting and buffing your mitigation will prolly be common.

i agree slightly, i just wish to avoid the nerf bat. since hitting 50 i have gotten used to being a dps class inraids, but if we being reduced, its gonna be sad, ill just be another useless low dps fighter taking up space. o well, we had our time in the sun, i guess its only fair that we now suck and others rise to overpowering greatness

a swing and a miss!!!!!!!!

i agree with the original post in so far as we are great dps(after the changes) and its fun to be in that role sometimes too. luckily our dps is NOT dependant on being beserk, or us being a tank, our dps rocks wherever, whenever, and however. /cheer

Unfortunately berserker dps excels when he is MT in offensive stance against multiple mobs after revamp. Berserk helps a lot in this respect. Berserker is a unique tank among all the fighters class that he actually do more damage when playing MT role (when in offensive stance). In fact the more mobs that hit the berserker, the higher his dps is going to be. The counter attack skill that proc AE damage works great...:)
