ffxi or eq2, which?Follow

Hi,

I am currently playing ffxi, and I am considering about moving to either eq2 or wow. I need some incentive! why do you play what you play? If it helps I will get a little more specific on what I would like. In ffxi i play a warrior (59) who totes dual weilding axes. The job is purely offensive. I also play a tank as a ninja (lvl 46). If you dont know ninjas are the damageless tank, we have shadows and with perfected timing we keep them up while erasing previous ones for timers and if done right we can go unhit for levels at a time :D So is there any jobs in this game like this? Preferably I would like to do something a little 'stealthy' as ninjas in ffxi had shurikens for throwing and were originally meant to be debuffers with ninja tools.
In ffxi we relied on groups of 6 for our xp. Is it the same setup for eq2?

Thanks in advance!

Hmm you can go and read the long thread for comparison between WoW and EQ2, as for stealth in EQ2, yes there surely is and youll defenitly find roles closer to the one you had in FF11 in EQ2 than in WoW.

WoW is more of a hack and slash there isnt any threat really around there to keep you interested in going around in stealth mode. But then again havent played WoW at all.

So like i sadi best bet is to go read the 450 or so message on the big thread of the main page and youll certainly have a good idea of the weakness of both game after that :)

I have played FFXI for over 5 months, EQ2 for just over 2 1/2 months, and WoW for about a month and a half, heres my two gil.

In EQ2 there is no "Blink Tank" like the Ninja in FFXI, the tank subclasses are: Crusader (advanced: Shadowknight/Paladin), Brawler (Monk,Bruiser), and Warrior (Berserker/Guardian). You start out as a fighter, at ten pic Brawler, Crusader, or Warrior, and depending on alignment at level 20 advance to your next class. Warrior however can choose whether or not he wants to become a Guardian/Berserker. The closest thing to a WAR/NIN in ffxi is probably a Berserker in EQ2 because it can deal some dmg, and take some dmg. Also, Fighters get duel wield at level 10, so no need to worry about toatin around two axes ^^. As for stealthy, you can check out the scout classes, but basically all have some degree of cool stealth moves to them (back stab, ambush etc etc) I'm not real sure about the throwing weap question... rangers obviously excel in doing damage with a bow, but as for assasins... (another scout class) i'm not sure how they rate as far as the throwing weap area goes.

Groups in EQ2 are so much better then FFXI, first of all there are way more cleric(healing) type classes in EQ2 because they all have there unique way of healing, and to put it bluntly sound and look alot cooler. A fury sounds 10x cooler then "White Mage" imo. Groups feel more fluid in EQ2, if someone makes a mistake, it wont destroy the entire xp experience, and everyone get mad and disband. Truthfully you probably wont even notice it.

As for WoW... you solo most of the time, and as someone previously stated, its not a "hack and slash" game, but thats what it feels like due to lack of depth. if you play on a PvP server you may like it, but WoW is a completely diff. feel from FFXI. where as EQ2 feels like a upgraded, better version of FFXI in a way. I would recommend trying both just because it differs so much from person to person, but if you can only try one, i really recommend EQ2. If you do join EQ2, I'm on Oggok Server, char name is "Beowhulf" GL to you, hope you make a good decision ^^

I mainly play FF although I was a long time EQ player and have played both EQ2 and WoW as well.

Personally I love FF, I like the way a party really has to work so much more as a team than they do in the other two games. I really like in WoW the way you can just do your own thing and the quest systems in WoW and EQ2 seem far better than what you have in FF.

I guess all 3 are good games, I hate PvP and find WoW far to easy and kinda basic, it feels like everything comes to easily. Sure it doesnt feel like a job as a lot of WoW players like to say but it doesnt feel all that much of a challenge either.

I take it as your considering moving your getting bored of FF by now, well really i'd say if you like PvP and playing solo the whole time then WoW might be the best option. Although I honestly feel that in the long run EQ2 will prove to be the more satisfying game, I think blizzard has made a game for the masses that the hard core player will tire of more quickly.

Just my opinions on the matter :)

Yes... I as well played FFXI and have over 120 play time on my warrior. lvl 72. EQ2 has so much more to offer and that is why I am switching.
