Im just curious about EQ2's currency value. How much can you buy with a copper piece, silver piece, etc. And how much work is required to earn it.

I remember in EQlive, a newbie sword from an NPC vendor would cost about 5-10 gold. And collecting some rat fur that are dropped by level one mobs could get you a few silver pieces in a few minutes.

Electrum pieces in EQlive held so little value that people just toss them to save weight.
Is this still the case? or does the currency hold more value now?

If I ever make 1pp I think I'll feel like the richest person in the world. I'm currently a level 9 scout and I have 17 silver.... that was harder then heck to get.. basic light armor sells to vendors for 89 cp or so a piece.

1pp = 100 gp = 10000 sp = 1000000cp

Much more value. They changed the whole way money works.

100 copper = 1 silver
100 silver = 1 gold
100 gold = 1 platinum

Much of the armour that is good for me at level 11 is around 5 or 6 silver.

You can do about 3 or 4 quests and have a silver. Most of the stuff that drops off of monsters sells for copper, a few things silver (I'm talking in the newbie zone.) Many of the weapons and armour that you get from quests (all done under level 11) give you roughly 1 - 5 silver. The most money I've had is roughly 50 silver and some odd copper. I upgraded my spells and spent roughly 10 silver doing it.

At any rate (thank you for reading my inane babbling) smaller currency means a lot more in EQ2.

I agree. I just hope inflation doesn't take over the game for quite a long time.

Me too. It's fun to be part of a virgin economy. No one is selling a damn thing yet. Everyone is vendoring stuff to make their money. I love it!

Ok thanks for the response.
So EQ2 currency holds more value than in the older EQlive.

I think thats better. You no longer need to run around carrying 40000platinum and feeling like your towing a cruise ship behind you because of the weight.

Last night on Antonia Bayle, a few people were shouting a few magic items for sale already. Going for about a couple silver and one going for 2 plat. So the auctioning has already started.
