Okay, I feel stupid asking this, but I checked the manual and the online help to no avail.... I bought throwing knives as a ranged weapon, went into inventory and doubl-e clicked them to equip. They went into my ammo slot. However, when I click ranged attack, it tells me that I need to equip a ranged weapon. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

You also need to buy a "container" for the thrown weapons, which goes into your "ranged weapon" slot. I think throwing knives use a "sheath" or something. It should be sold on the same merchant where you got the knives. "Examine" the other stuff he sells and it will tell you which one you need.
Well, there you go then. The problem here is that all the sheaths and bows are red in the lest. Can I use them?
Possibly in the future. Examining the sheath should tell you the minimum skill level needed for it. Compare that number to your own skills. You generally gain 5 skill points per level, so you should be able to figure out how many more levels you need to gain before you can use it.
Okay, once I got to 9 I was able to use a maple short bow. Thanks for the help!
