Unless you preorded, all 5 game stores(2 EB,3 Gamestop) were and are all sold out of EQ2 in all versions. It only took me $5 to preorder each of my copies and i had 2 of the 3 on the morning of the 8th. Had i not preordered, i wouldn't have 1 copy. To me, it's all sour grapes from those who by bad luck's chance, didn't preorder, or their shipment got screwed up.

I pre-ordered cd-rom from Gamestop. Get the automated call, Monday. Call Gamestop to find out all they received were dvds. Called around to all the other Gamestops, around town, same thing. The last word I got from them was that they were expecting their cd-roms, possibly Thursday.
Called a bunch of EB's and one of them had three copies of the cd-rom and they were, obviously, all reserved for pre-orders. Decided to get out and ran around to various other places. All had dvd-rom and no cds. I found out at CompUSA that their cd-rom versions were to be in "in the afternoon" (it was already past 1pm).
Finally, I thought, what the hell, I'll stop at BestBuy on my way home (in 10 years, they've almost never had a game I'm looking for on the day of release). Lo and behold, as I was about to give up, a BestBuy guy asked me if he could help with anything. Told him what I was looking for and he points to a little spot on the bottom shelf, way towards the end of the aisle. There were 3-5 copies on the shelf. The one on top, cd-rom. I thanked him and explained what was going on and he grinned and replied something about how they weren't supposed to put them out until the 13th or the 15th, I didn't hear which, but they did anyhow. I don't know what that means or why, but that's my story.
I realize that dvd-rom is probably "standard" these days, but I have to imagine a large number of players still have cd-roms. I can imagine another wave of subscribers, as soon as the cd-rom versions start showing up in stores (South and West suburbs of Minneapolis, at least).
P.S. There was also a "tin" of the Collector's Edition on the shelf, at BB, as well.

I pre-ordered the CE as well and still haven't seen any shipping notification. Makes me angry as hell too. Its not over a game, its over being jerked around and lied to. Why ***** over your most loyal customers?

Well Heres a good one.....I ordered two different versions of the EQII, the CD version from EB Games.(with 3 day shipping) they charged me nothing for shipping by the way....And No I have not received my CD version Yet..Tracking says the delivery date is today the 11th, But Oh Geeee....Its a holiday....so does UPS deliver today? I think Not....Thanks EB games....and as for the other game I ordered the CE directly from SOE, and got that famous by now Email that said it was delayed over seas, due to the Tin container it was shipped in, and would not be shipped until the end of this week, Well How the hell did the stores around me all get those on the 8th then? And I paid for shipping for this $12.50 for next day delivery....And no refund of that Im sure....just a lousy extra 7 days to play for free....Well I won't get that either because I now have SoE Station Access for EQ and EQII, and I hear the freebie days are forfeited this way....Well Maybe Next week I will be able to play on my day off....Thanks Sony.....Still no games yet.....Times 2.

Master Subvert and I pre-ordered his copy @ a big PC store, decided to see if they had it in Tuesday night, they did, but all pre-orders had to get them off the shelves!?!
So, since you got the 10 dollar discount for the pre-order, I grabbed my copy (not pre-ordered) and we got 20 dollars off!
I agree with the statement that everyone's waiting on Halo2, that's the discussion at all the places we've been lol

I hope everyone gets their games, has enough memory, a decent processor and good video card, and starts playing!!

I got my copy at Best Buy 10/09/04 at about noon. They said they had 4 copies of the collector's edition and I got the last one because I called in and told them to hold it. and yes I did have a preorder, but their preorder system is weird. you don't actually choose which edition. I went to check how many copies they had and they had tons. I'm just glad I got a copy. So far eq has been really sweet. had a few disconnects, but was able to get back within 2min.

I also ordered a CD version from EB games and the CE from Sony. The thing that makes me the most upset is, why did soe make such a big deal of pre-ordering, when they can't get the product to those of us who did, but they are able to send them to the retailers basically "on consignment". Who's bright idea in corporate was that? I am to the point with SOE that if EQ2 isn't an absolutely phenomemal game, then they have taken the last cent of my money they will ever see, this is their 3rd and final chance.

There are plenty available in the Seattle area if you know where to look.

I got two copies at Fred Meyer electronics section. They had 3 boxes of them.. unopened when I got there. Both the DVD and CD versions.

Also places like walmart, target, sears, and other large retailers got theirs the same day as the game only stores like game stop, and ebgames.

You do not stand alone.

My order is still pending 3 days later and I can't cancel it, go to Best Buy and buy a copy.

Now it is the evening of the 11th. How do you not clear your product through US customs first? I Pre-ordered three copies from the Station store thinking if anyone would be on time it would be the game creator, boy was I made a fool of. I am just seething. I honestly thought a Pre-Order would guarentee me an on time copy over the local retailers. And as was mentioned earlier, how the heck do these other retailers have the CCE if the tins didnt make it through customs? I think that is what is burning me up the most, and to make matters even worse, the dead line has passed to cancel my order and Amazon.com still has Ce in stock! I will never pre-order or buy directly from the Station store again. 7 days free, bite me they can keep there 7 days and put my order through Amazon.com so I can have my copy for the weekend.

Just curious, how many people took vacation time from work in anticipation of a timely order? (raises hand) I purposefully set aside my vacation time for the release at the beginning of the year.

I would have to say that the "custom delay" is BS they are known for not being ready when they said they will be. If you played with the eqlive and was thru the add-on it was always shipped too early even before the game was ready. The one I remember the most was Shadow of Lucin. Lol new race and class and UI. beside "the patch a patch that patch this patch that fix this that broke these stuff" patches. They didn't even have the class graphic for the beastlord or the UI for 11 to 12 months after the release of that add-on. They claim to have the graphics done but the programing was not done. Pretty lame graphic at that. But eq2 show some completeness so far.

Yeah this whole thing pisses me off. I pre-ordered the collector's edition a month before release. I will hopefully get my copy tomorrow, but only because EBGames.com is taking the fall for SOE's screwup. I would be getting my copy like Tuesday or something but EB is gonna overnight it. They also took $20 off my order cost. But you know that sucks, it's SOE's screwup, the only thing EB did wrong is poor communication (I didn't know the full spectrum of the problem or who made the error until late yesterday).

A lot of retailers are going to get the gripes that SOE should be rightfully getting. This thing about customs is not satisfactory - they should have planned ahead and shipped tins ahead. Furthermore, offering to cancel people's orders as a kiss and makeup policy is pretty lame. They should be giving everyone who had their orders delayed from their negligence free game time, even if it's only a day or two, or something.

And while I'm ranting, SOE's site works like crap. Sections down, the forums won't let me sign in (it acts like it signed me in but then tells me to sign in when I try to post. I even had a screen that showed me signed in in the top left of the screen while simultaneously telling me I need to sign in, with the uid/pw dialog).

Your character might re-appear. Some friends have described seeing this occur and then their character being back later. Good luck.

Why don't you call up Osama Bin Laden and ask him to come and help. You have the same mindset as him, so you must know his phone number.

Sheesh what a whining loser.
