Some help purchasing a Copy in GermanyFollow

#1 Nov 09 2004 at 1:19 PM Rating: Decent
Hail friends,

I preordered my game through the Sony station store. Alas it appears that they were woefully unprepared and were not even able to ship out all the pre-orders that were tendered at their very own warehouse. Needless to say this is slightly frustrating.

But I am not here to cry (though I have done some of that) instead I am here to ask advice. As an American living in Germany, do any of the local residents have any suggestions for a German brick and mortar store in the Frankfurt area where I might be able to purchase a copy. A secondary concern would be, for one who is alas unilingual, would any copy that I purchase in Germany be inalterably setup for those who speak the Deutsche, or would I be able to select voiceovers/text to be in English.

I appreciate any thoughts in advance.

Before the the good ol' official EQ2 where wiped, i think one of the dev's said that german and french copies could download a patch at some given time to replace all WRITTEN text to english, but spoken text will remain german or french.

So my best bet is if you want the "original" english version, you wait for Sony's copy to arrive or order one in the Netherlands(comes with a dutch manual) or the UK.

Amazon.co.uk has nice prices i think, but that's my 2cents.

Thanks Xcargo,

If I were to undertake the drive to the Netherlands -- really not that far from where I am at -- what would the name of some software stores be so that I might call ahead to see if it is worth the trip.

Appreciate your response my friend.

I can imagine the language issue could easily be solved by a complete install of an english version at a later stage. install, and then enter your account details (that's how it worked with EQ1 at least).

apart from that, German/French versions mostly come with Ubisoft as contract partner though (instead of SOE)... my brother did that, accidently. big mistake. Ubisoft customers (EQ1) e.g. can't even use digital download...

if EQ2 takes after all the rest of the sony online games it will have a choice of languages at the beginning of the install screen, as for purchasing a copy, you can go to any of the big dept stores or computer stores in the area and pick one up, I don't know about frankfurt, but berlin had a lot. as for the language if there is no selection, just press ja.
