First of.. Expect to see a lot of flaming here. but here goes anyway. Of course grouping is usually done by everyone but let me set something straight off from the Start. MMORPG does not mean grouping. It just means Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game. (I dont see the word group in there.) It is a game where you interact.. ie.. roleplay, buy, sell, trade etc etc. It shouldnt be a game where you are forced to group.. Unfortunately SOE forgot this aspect.

EQ2 is not Solo friendly. There is solo content, but its only at the lower levels. After level 20, forget it.. You won't find very much of it. Most mobs are all group mobs. Even the mobs that you find alone are to powerfull to be taken solo.

Your Archtype classes require you to group to get level 20. It is impossible to achieve level 20 without grouping. You have to enter Dungeons to get what you need.

All Dungeons are Group Dungeons. Instance zones require at least 3 people grouped to enter. All mobs in the dungeon are Group mobs.. to strong for solo play.

Armor Quests which start at level 20 are also this way ie to strong to solo. They require mobs that you need to be in a group to take.

BUT WAIT. YOU CAN DO THESE SOLO. Of course you have to wait till the mobs are grey.. ie real grey.. which then of course puts you way behind your peers... in your armor level, spells etc etc..

Spells the same Way.. you have to be in groups to kill the mobs that drop your high end spell upgrades..

So. SOE lied a bit when they said they were going to make this game Solo friendly. It isnt.. at least not after you reach level 20.

btw.. i speak from experience. I am not taking this from boards or second hand info. I have a level 28 Wiz and a level 24 Druid. I do group and I did solo. Do very little of it anymore for the above reason.. Just letting you all know.. Dont expect to be the casual solo player in this game and expect to advance much.

All well and true friend. But I'm pretty independent; to the point of having toons years old not even in the 30's because I choose solo (or rather due to play time or shard had to).

Either way, I enjoy it all. I can be extremely difficult "going ahainst the grain" or against standard tactics, but hey, It's my $13 bucks (or whatever it's gonna be, I don't care).

And too add a note, I could care less if my machine (notebook) is uber or whatever. I don't tweak or worry or runn to get new parts. But them again, I did order this machine with the EQ2 Specs in mind :).

People worry so much. Its cheap entertainment.

I was under the impression that you could solo to 50, it would be slower then grouping but this isnt the first time I've heard that alot of quests and items you get from fighting in groups.
btw have you taken up a trade skill? im curious about farming for items...

The thread heats up! As I'm a casual gamer who has gotten the EQ itch, which turned into the EQII itch. I'm compelled to say this...

EQII offers soloing opportunites at every level.

With that said... if you expect to level to 50 by soloing the whole time...I think you have some wrong expectations. The game is intends to get you into groups from time to time, while in contrast, you also expected to do some soloing. It seems simple...

I guess it would be a point of concern if the game dominated one aspect over the other...but I don't think that is the case.

From what I've read in many threads...they all conclude the same thing.... each has it's perks!

What I mean is this...If you solo all the time you will not be able to develop some your skills and vise versa. While some of these skills are not unfamilar....things like heroic opportunites are unique to a group.

In the most simplest terms I plan, as a suspect most players to do, to mix it up and take advantage of both worlds... Sometimes you just like to be alone in the crowd....

Was going to flame but decided against it..
1 poster does not make a fact.. all you get on forums is opinions and feedback of experiences.

I personally soloed to 27 Fury (druid line)almost exclusively.
I personally soloed to 16 Predator (Scout class).
I personally soloed to 15 Crusader (Fighter).
I also played a mage for a short bit but dont generally play those type classes however... Since I like to solo instead of group, i continuously polled hi end players. Most say the mage was really easy. They have added content recently .. within last few weeks to hi end content for soloers.
I agree with the orig poster on the 20+ armor quests. You will need a group.. but i did it 3x for 3 diff pieces and had no prob whatsoever getting in a group for it. Most players at that level are ALL working on those quests since they offer some of the best armor for that level.
I also agree with the poster re: solo in dungeons. It is more diff in teh dugeons.. however.. do as i did.. if i didnt want to group.. i stayed in teh wilderness or worked on quests. I progresses just as fast as my grouped peers but there may be ALOT of variables to that.
So for all your FELLOW soloers.. feel at ease.. its NOT too hard. If it is.. you better talk to the others doing teh same and find out what your doing wrong.. I wasnt the only one able to do it by ANY means.. in fact.. even though i leveld as fast as groups.. i was left in teh dust by other players. And as such.. on occassion i inquired how/who/where/etc to improve my own skills and hunting areas.
Something that ALOT of players DONT take into consideration is your skills/spells. Upgrade them asap. as high as poss also. Youll know what i mean when you play. By useing a lowend spell is like teh 10th lvl fighter using thr rusty sword he started the game with. You suck. get teh cool sword and rock.. if youve played any games at all you understand this logic.. yet i constantly ran unto players too stingy to part with coin to buy teh upgrades and could only solo equal level mobs.. whil i consistantly killed (+) mobs. Better exp... faster level etc.
This was not ment as a guige/walkthrough/hint etc.. i only tell you all this to answer the topic.. yes.. you can solo.. i feel VERY comfortable saying up to AT LEAST 30 (from own experience) yet dont know from there on except from word of mouth of higher lvl players saying yes.. in 30's also soloing is fine. just my 2c

Ok this is not a flame just a disagreement
I just hit lvl 20. I am now a shadowknight. I have never once had to solo. Yes of the quest do require you to grp. If you don't like to qrp erase the quest. As far as having to grp to get lvl 20. I did my shadowknight quest entirely solo. The actual quest part CAN NOT be done in a grp. Getting to the room were the quest takes place was a little tough but if you run you can make it pretty easily. I have seen way more solo friendly mobs in EQ2 than I ever did in EQ live.
