RAM: 1GB of PC2100 DDR

Motherboard = ECS
Motherboard Model = M925
System Type X86-based PC

Graphics Card: Nividia FX 5700 Ultra 128MB

EverQuest 2 will really take advantage of those super high-end machines out there and although your machine should run it fine, you will miss on some gorgeous things in game. I take it that you are running a Pentium 4 1.7GHz (and not a Celeron 1.7GHz). If that is the case, I would look into upgrading to a newer processor (perhaps a P4 3ghz if your motherboard can support it). Then a video card upgrade would be nice.

One thing to mention is that although your RAM is sufficient at 1gb, some RAM is faster than other RAM. If your motherboard can support faster ram (DDR400) it would make a difference, however, this is not as critical as upgrading your cpu and a new video card (I would suggest one of the Geforce 6800 series as the game looks gorgeous with them).

I wouldn't change the mobo. Just put in the fastest CPU that your current mobo can handle, shoudn't run you more then 100-150 bucks, and you'll enjoy the performance boost you get for the money. Other then that your vid card is solid and you have enough RAM, so you should be fine.

I heard from a friend who is not me who might know some one who could be in the beta and I think he said yeah, you are gonna wanna upgrade. Rumor has it this other guy has a 3.2 P4 HyperThread with a gig of pc3200 DDR, and a Geforce FX 5700 Ultra 128 himself. A most of the good effects off and it chops up with more than 5 charecter models on screen.

I'm running a athlon 64 3400 with radeon 9800 and got really sluggish with encountering more than 4 npc's on screen. It was playable after lowering to low-med graphic options. At release date hopefully the gameplay will improve.

My system:

2.8GHz Hyperthread Enabled P4 with 800MHz FSB
1.5GB PC3200 memory (running at 400MHz)
Geforce 5900 (128MB memory)

In EQ2, there are many graphics options to alter and change. There is a set of universal performance settings which adjust all of the options for you based on which one you select. These run from Very High performance to Very High Quality..

There is an option in the middle: Balanced

I run at balanced most of the time, things do get prettier when you go up in quality, but when you get too many folks on the screen it will slow down. I can run at one setting into Quality with not too many problems, but my FPS drops to about 20 when I do. At balanced I am getting about 30FPS (I own a copy of FRAPS, which along with the ability to make movies, it will display the current FPS you are getting....) I have taken a 7 minute video, up to about 2.5 GB in AVI format, when I can find something to encode this to shring size but not impact quality I will get it posted....

My friend who is also in beta has same system as I do, but has a Geforce 4 --- can't recall the exact model, but it was one of the better Ti versions... He can run balanced most of the time.

Your system should hold up fairly well with that graphics card you have, if you want even better graphics you would need to upgrade, but the game is extremely playable on my 5900 and my friends Geforce 4 so your card will do fine. I would look into upgrading your memory and cpu though... You will need to move up to PC2700 if you get a 533 Mhz FSB cpu, or PC3200 if you get a 800Mhz FSB cpu, 1gig will do for now.

Go to www.pricewatch.com you can find deals on Motherboard/CPU combos... a 2.8 GHZ 800 MHZ FSB cpu/motherboard can be had for about 200 bucks... 160 bucks will get youa 2.4Ghz 800 MHZ FSB motherboard/cpu....

Of course, you can always try the game before you upgrade, you just may not be able to run too high ont he quality side.

Note: running Balanced, I get better performance in EQ2 than I do in EQ1 with all options enabled in EQ1... especially in PoK.

My system is slightly less powerful than this (geForce 5600XT), and I don't have any signifigant problems.

My current specs are as follows..I am running a 2.1ghz AMD Athlon XP processor, 512 megs of PC2100 memory and I am using a Geforce FX5200 Ultra video card with 256 megs of memory as well. I can run run the game with the lighting on max and the water on max but the shadows simply almost stop my machine. Running through the Commonlands with a string of Orcs on my back not to mention the vipers and nomads doesn't pose to much of a problem. :)

I am looking at upgrading my laptop with a new one. However Nvidia GeForcego 5700/128mb is the best graphics card I can find on anyones' notebook to date. Will this run EQII reasonalby well or only at the low end graphics scale? I have tried to find better but I am limited in the mobile pcs. Alienware is still using the GeForcego 5700 too. Should I just wait?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

How is my specs, if someone would be so kind to awnser.

AMD XP 2.6 (2.13).
DDR ram 768
GEforce 4 ti 4600. 128 vid ram

Stuck with geforce 4600 because for the most part ran better then my geforce 5600 (graphics wernt as good, just ran faster). Which brings to this question.. is it the case with this game? Does 4600 still out preform the FX's, or am I better off throwing back the 5600?

Be careful in upgrading a laptop. They heat up faster. I upgraded one and burnt the motherboard becuse it ran too hot. Expesive lesson. Of course it's all in how you keep it cool. I'm a casual gamer and decided to get a robust desk top that will up grade easy and kept the laptop safe...
